À propos de ce logement

This is the best sleeping room in the house. There's a half-bath with toilet and sink just down the hall. No tub or shower on this level but you have access to one upstairs. Good Wi-Fi is available in the living room just down the hall. Hot water radiator heat keeps the room (and house) evenly warm in the winter and concrete floors keep it comfortably cool in the summer.

Accès des voyageurs

Please make use of the front living room to read some local authors, play the upright grand piano or access wi-fi. The back porch is yours to enjoy too. Let me know ahead of time if you're interested in any hikes on the premises and if the weather is right, someone will try to be available to show you some beautiful views.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I'll be here if you need me. I do enjoy interacting with guests but I'm also happy to leave you to your own privacy.

We loved our stay! We were on our way down to Florida for our honeymoon and booked a night there. Everything about the place is so charming and cozy. You get the true feeling of being on a farm in the country when you're there. Connie was also a fabulous host - we ended up going out to dinner with Connie and her boyfriend in the small neighboring town the night we were there. We had our own private tour guides in a town full of history. She was also very communicative and let us know when we got there that she could let us have a more private experience or more interactive one. Not only did we have a great stay, but made new friends along the way. And the goats and Connie's quiche are awesome, too! Super comfy beds with a cottage feel and an authentic experience make for the perfect Bed and Breakfast! Would love to go back sometime. Hoping that our travels will allow us to do so in the future.

This was our first Airbnb and Connie was an attentive first host. She was helpful and served coffee from an actual french press ... yum

You couldn't ask for a sweeter more accommodating hostess! Connie was a joy to be around and made us feel right at home!

The entire visit was amazing. Very well styled room, restrooms exquisitely clean and available (Yay hot showers! ♡)! Connie has many talents, and in our brief conversations before sleeping and prior to departing were wonderful and thought invoking. Unexpected to us was a breakfast! We ended up being geeky and speaking of the intricacies of Tolkien's LoTR series while dining with her. And of course the critters! Goats aplenty! There were roughly 12-14 goats, and it was great seeing how much personality each one had. There were also a few kitties, including a super-friendly orange tabby that stole our attention from the moment we arrived. (Allergy fears? Don't worry, I'm pretty sure they're always outside?) Bed and pillows were super comfortable, entire home was cozy, and the surrounding area despite being close to the road was extremely quiet!!! No complaints at all. Only improvements I could make are terribly miniscule - Available extension cord to have plug space for device charging (21st century living) and maybe a wastebasket in the bedroom? 10/10 would visit goats again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Blueberry Goat Haven with Connie! The house was very easy to find. Connie was an outstanding host--she offered us a late dinner when we arrived and a wonderful breakfast the next morning. Both were delicious! We actually decided to stay in the upstairs room with the private bath and Connie was very accomodating with our change of room. We were very comfortable. Great night's sleep! We had a great time visiting with the resident goats, especially the babies! Connie stayed in touch with us prior to arrival and was able to suggest things to do in the area. The house is very unique and I felt like I was staying with family. We were travelling in the area (Russell Co., Tazewell, Pocahontas) and this was a great stop over on our way to WV. I would definitely stay at Blueberry Goat Haven again and recommend it to others travelling through Bluefield.

My husband and I had a lovely weekend stay at Connie's. The room we stayed in was on the ground level and stayed pleasantly cool at night and even during the day. We were treated to a pitcher of artesan water with lemon, which lived on the bedside table, and we slept wonderfully in the comfortable and spacious queen-sized bed. Connie has done a remarkable job turning an old veterinarian's house into a fun, historic country home. There are vintage touches everywhere: we especially loved the elegant bathroom fixtures, horse wallpaper, old Virginian recipes sitting out for our perusal, and stimulating coffee table books on topics ranging from women from coal country (fascinating stories!) to old hymnals. Her back yard is picturesquely nestled against a sloping mountain hillside complete with goats bleating, outdoor cats, and a rustic stable. You really can't top the location for its view or for its naturally air-conditioned climate (as the town of Bluefield, Virginia's tallest town, fairly accurately claims to possess). Of particular note is the upright piano which she said is (I think) from 1902. Connie had just had it tuned the week before we arrived, and it is in wonderful shape for such an old instrument. My husband enjoyed playing tunes out of the old hymnals on it. It has a resonant, warm bass register that we both found pleasing. Connie is a gracious hostess and provided us with AMAZING French press coffee each morning, for which she ground the coffee beans freshly. We also enjoyed her company in the evenings when we were back at her house.

I love to travel with family and friends. The wonderful hospitality I've experienced in the past is what made me want to be an Airbnb host. I'm a native of this Appalachian area but lived in the midwest for a while. My favorite places to visit? I'd have to say Lido Beach near Sarasota FL. Someday, I'd love to visit Iceland and see the ponies there but presently I'm quite content in my home state of Virginia.
I'm currently working as a writer/reporter/editor and enjoy investigative and features work. If you like music, there's a wonderful piano here too that you're welcome to play. And if you're a reader, you'll find plenty of books to choose from too. As for the goats, they are "the greatest entertainers, and the greatest time wasters," as my dad used to say. They are sociable, friendly and each full of personality. I haven't offered food as part of my Airbnb listing, nor do I charge for it, but I LOVE to cook…and if you have any special needs--gluten free, diabetic, etc, let me know ahead of time and if I'm cooking, I'll cook so that we can share. At breakfast I usually try to have some protein around (eggs, cheese, yogurt), along with some fruit and coffee and tea that you are welcome to enjoy.
