First of all, to all that is reading this, Tom doesn't exist. It is hosted by a property rental agency in London, whose name I shall not mention. The property is exactly as you see in the photos, almost new but the furniture are cheap and not exactly the most comfortable. Location is convenient to the tubes and a Tesco express down the road. Beyond that, it has been a terrible experience with the agency. The greeter that greeted me on my arrival, didn't know much about the property, he never showed me how to lock the doors (which can be rather tricky for the first time) which lead me to think the lock isn't working, nor did he show me the keys to the windows and balcony. It took me half an hour to get hold of someone on the phone and waited another 45 minutes for the service person to come fix the lock and only to find out it is not broken. Furthermore, the internet never worked for the duration of my stay, which was 6 days. I contacted the agency 4/5 times via email and phone calls, and they made couple of attempts to fix it but made it even worse in the sense that I can't even find the wifi to connect to on my devices. This resulted in me having to stay later at the office (as I'm actually on a business trip in London) to get what I need to send out done before I leave and added enormous amount of money to my data roaming charges. They apologised by the 5th day and offered me a voucher for my next stay with them... ha! With experience like this, I think I will stay well clear of any property listed by them. Lastly, I communicated to them that I wished to check out by 10.15 on the day which leave me enough time to get to the airport but the person to check me out never even showed up. As I need the keys to lock the doors, I called and informed them I have to leave the keys in the letter box as I will be late to the airport if I don't leave now. But to add complication on this already stressful situation, I have NO ACCESS to the letterboxes as it is behind locked doors in the adjoining apartment. Took me another 10 minutes to run back inside to see if I can find the keys to it, but to no avail. I eventually have to inconvenient one of the neighbours on a sunday morning to open the doors to the letterbox.

Secondly, we’d like to apologise for the disappointing service you received as this is certainly not in keeping with our usual standards. With regards to the internet, while we strive to ensure all our homes offer Wi-Fi, we cannot always guarantee stable speed, usability and connection due to problems the service provider may experience. On this occasion, there was a fault with the provider and therefore was unfortunately out of our control. However, a member of our Customer Care team will be in touch very soon about this.

I would not personally stay at this flat again. Here's honest good/bad so you can make your decision. Flat is well-located, fairly quiet, in a nice, safe-feeling neighborhood. It's cute, well laid out, nice kitchen with good appliances and cookware. Bed was very comfortable. The major drawbacks: CIGARETTE SMOKE The place REEKED. I said something to the woman who checked me in thinking it was previous guest, but she blew it off. Called Vive Unique next evening, Sunday, because smoke smell just wasn't dissipating. I was told they'd get someone to bring in ozone machine to remove the stink. Monday morning I find that there's no water coming from sinks or shower. Called again. Was assured both issues would be addressed that day. Came home - water was back on but flat still reeked. I ended up having to call every day that week trying get something done about it. Left messages or even talked to someone who said they were on top of it. By Wednesday, I was livid. Spoke to someone who said they didn't have fob to let them in front door, only keys to get in flat door. We agreed they would come Thursday before I left for work at 7:30am. No one showed. I had to go, called them. They apologized. Agreed to come to office at 11am so I could bring down keys. No one showed. FINALLY, Thursday evening they came to get fob. Friday they came with the machine. It was mostly better, but not entirely. I left for a day on Saturday to visit friend. Came back to horrible reeking. Turns out it's neighbor smoking and smoke coming straight in to flat. So after a week of incredible hassle with Vive Unique, it's hopeless to stop smell. If I'd known at first I would have insisted on being relocated or finding a new place to stay on my own. I'm a cancer survivor and no way in hell did I want to put up with actual cigarette smoke permeating my space. By the time I figured it out, it was too late to move. Incredibly disappointing and frustrating. Another major fault, though less health damaging, is with bathroom sink. Look closely at the bathroom pics. You can't lean over the sink because it's set so far back under the cabinets. It's a joke just trying to brush teeth let alone wash face. The bathtub however is great. Last thing. The fob for front door didn't work all the time. I was stuck outside a few times trying over and over to make it work. I had to be let in by neighbors two out of three times and I let others in. I will never stay with a property managed by Vive Unique again. And, I will never make mistake at staying at flat with no reviews. Lessons learned. To be fair, if you don't care about smoke or bathroom sink, the place is great.

Hi Rebecca, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I’d like to firstly apologise for the smell of cigarette smoke within the property, which was caused by the next door neighbour. We were unaware of this issue because the homeowner is a non-smoker, and being one of our most popular properties, has never been raised by guests as a point of concern. With regards to the difficulties you experienced with the fob, this was due to a required software update and is currently being fixed. It’s very disappointing to hear of the slow service you received when we tried to resolve the problems for you. This is not in keeping with our usual high standards, so please accept my apologies on behalf of Vive Unique for the inconvenience and upset this may have caused you during your stay. Tom
