Enjoy a tranquil private suite for up to 4 people in the Berkeley Hills surrounded by greenery and fabulous views. Near beautiful walks, unique shops, the" Gourmet Ghetto" restaurants, UC Berkeley, and transportation to SF and nearby attractions.
This lovely, spacious suite is the lower half of a classic midcentury home that was previously owned by a former UC Berkeley Chancellor. The home has spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco and you need only to share the main entrance and go down the steps to a private living area.
The guest suite has a large separate bedroom with a comfortable full sized bed, chair and armoire. The room is complemented by a walk-in closet with ample shelving and a chest of drawers. The bedroom is decorated by a Picasso lithograph, an antique doll-house, book shelves filled with travel books, and a wrap-around window that looks out onto a romantic tree-house like deck bedecked with little lights hanging from the ceiling. Here's where you can begin your day with complimentary morning coffee (from the original Peet's coffee store in Berkeley!) or end the day with a glass of complimentary California wine.
The adjoining living area is nicely appointed with glass faced armoires filled with guidebooks about Berkeley, the Bay Area and beyond. A large comfortable sofa and chaise (with a soft throw to snuggle up in), a brand-new flat screen TV, and a Turkish rug compliment the living room space. Behind this area is a round table and colorful chairs, (a place to eat or work on your laptop) and a kitchenette. The kitchenette does not have a stove but is equipped with a microwave, coffee/tea maker and a compact refrigerator. Attractive dishes, silverware, napkins, coffee, tea, milk, hot chocolate and sugar are all supplied.
Adjoining the sitting and eating space is a charming second sleeping area with bookshelves and queen sized bed decorated with deep turquoise linen and colorful folk art. Hanging behind the bed is an antique tapestry from a Mongolian yurt and on the shelves many treasures the host brought back from her travels.
The suite's private bathroom has one room with two sinks and a large vanity and mirror. A second room houses the toilet, shower and tub. There's even an antique scale that you need not ever use! Linens, towels, shampoo, soaps and lotion are all provided.
This magical flat, decorated with interesting art work, many by local artists, is perfect for a renewing retreat, a romantic getaway, or for a family of up to four to enjoy the excitement of the San Francisco Bay Area, and then return to a remarkably serene and beautifully appointed place to stay. Whether you are a visiting scholar or visiting a student at nearby universities or colleges, this Berkeley Hills guest suite will enhance your stay.
Accès des voyageurs
While many homes in the area do not have off-street parking, the guest suite has ample parking in the home's private 4-car driveway.
The suite is complemented by an adjoining deck with a table and chairs and strings of lights overhead. You also have access to your own thermostat so you can turn up the heat if you get chilly when the famous SF fog rolls in!

I love to travel the world, from Cuba to Mongolia, from Russia to Peru. What I most love is getting to know people and experiencing the friendships that emerge. I now have a place in the beautiful Berkeley Hills that I would like to share with others, to return the graciousness extended to me by so many.
I take only one or two reservations each month, spacing them out so I can give each guest the best possible experience during their stay. Airbnb is not a business to me, but a chance to interact with fascinating people and I am thoroughly enjoying it!
I have lived in the Bay Area (Oakland, Berkeley and the Haight Ashbury district of San Francisco) for many years and never tire of exploring new and well known spots, for eating, playing, shopping and being out in nature. I'd love to share ideas for walking, as well as driving, to fabulous nearby adventures. And for sunset time there is no better place than my deck, where if I'm home I will invite you, if you choose, to join me for the ever-changing view. Sometimes orange and fiery, other times grey and shimmering with sun and fog, this view never fails to thrill me.
We can interact as little as you wish or as much as our schedules allow. I work primarily at home so somedays I will ask that you enter and exit quietly.
