Peter's house is in the best location you can imagine, just 3 minutes walk from San Giorgio cathedral, middle way between Modica Alta and Modica Bassa. The apartment is full of charme. However there are some problems: the house was not clean. We found lots of hair in the shower from previous guests. The floor was dirty, the bbq hadn't even been tried to clean, not a dingle linen had been ironed... We had a small problem with hot water, but it was fixed in short time and Peter was so nice he gave us a tray of cannoli to apologize. One of the rooms have serious problem of humidity, it would need windows to be open daily. I really wish Peter will arrange things differently with the hiuse manager, or he will change him, Villa Carmela could be really awesome! The only serious problem is that 3 bedrooms have in-room wc and shower, withiut even a door to separate. So the 4th room have nothing at all. The guests of the 4th room have to wait others to come out their beds and go outside the bedroom to use toilet or shower. This is something you should be aware of! Overall I spent a good time in Villa Carmela, if Peter solves the problem with house keeper I'll come back for sure.

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry about the cleaning lady issue, this is very unusual. As you can see from our other comments, we have had extremely wonderful responses from guests about there experiences at our place. We will definitely address the issue with Dany our property manager. I realise that your stay coincided with your wedding and so it was a very stressful time. The problem that you point out was an exception not the norm. We will definitely address this issue and hope to see you again next year!

We were greeted at Comiso airport by Danny - property manager - and escorted to the villa in Modica, which was very kind and much appreciated as we arrived late and were tired. The villa is beautiful, especially the cave room and garden lodge, and the view over old Modica from the terrace is stunning. It is located in a wonderful part of town, providing easy access to many beautiful buildings, churches and restaurants. We particularly liked the area 'up the hill' from the villa, where there are tasteful places to eat and drink. The beds in each of the rooms are comfortable and the plumbing is good. Bedroom 4 does not have access to a bathroom, which could be a problem if a couple were to use it. We had no difficulties parking despite it being 'on street'. I would have no hesitation in recommending Modica as a destination and Villa Carmela as a first rate place to stay.

Lee: thank you for your kind comments. We owe much of our success to the awesome 'Danny B.' our property guru who is the human embodiment of the spirit of Villa Carmela. We are glad you mentioned Bedroom 4, as it is next in line for an ensuite addition this coming winter. We are glad you discovered Modica Alta...which is the more local area. And we are glad you discovered Rappa wine bar which is a great and wonderful place to sample Modicanni hospitality and Sicilian wine! Safe travels and we hope to see you back in Villa Carmela in the future! Peter and Kazue

Villa Carmela is a great place to stay in the South/East part of Sicily. Modica - Unesco - is a beautiful town, from where you can make trips to other beautiful cities (Ragusa, Scicli, Syracusa, Noto etc) and beaches (Calamosche, Sampieri). Communicating with Peter was very easy, pleasant and helpfull and also a lot of fun! He sent us detailed information including instructions of how to get to Modica and the Villa. At the Villa we met property manager Dany (Daniel) who turned out to be a great host! Communicating with Dany was also easy and after he welcomed us he showed us the Villa and even drove us around Modica to shows us the most important places, including the restaurant he works at (La Contea, which we highly recommend!). The Villa...the Villa is located in a small street and after a typically Sycilian facade, you will find a beautiful and very spacious palace. There are three big bedrooms, a well equiped kitchen, a hallway and an enourmes living room, all with marvelous high rounded ceilings. Two bedrooms have an en suite bathroom. And then there's the terrace...a lovely place to sit, relax, eat/drink and enjoy the view! Also the livingroom and the master bedroom (even the shower) have great views from the french balconies. Oh...and our kids (and myself) enjoyed the pool! Thank you Peter and Dany for hosting us and helping us making our Tour of Sicily unforgettable!

A stunning villa with beautiful views and everything you could possibly need to fully enjoy your holiday, exceeding our high expectations. The location is ideal to explore Modica on foot with many restaurants, museums, churches and shops; Modica its self is a beautiful town with a vibrant atmosphere that has been described as being a "baroque labyrinth", famous for its chocolate. Greek and Roman sites as well as lovely beaches, including Calamosche, Cava D'aliga and Sampieri, are just a short drive away. Dany who looks after the villa met us when we arrived and was so helpful during our stay- nothing was too much trouble! My family and I had a wonderful stay and look forward to returning in the near future.

Modica is our family's second home. We love its people, the food, the culture and of course the weather! Our hobbies include learning about wine, art and slow life.
