Olomayiana is a private self-catering bush camp about 90 minutes from Nairobi Airport and 1.5 hours from Amboseli National Park. Bedrooms are either en-suite tents or en-suite cottages. Camp is staffed to help with cleaning and basic food prep.

Olomayiana is located in the Maparasha Hills 75 minutes drive from Nairobi airport and an hour from the border with Tanzania and Amboseli National Park overlooked by Mount Kilimanjaro. The Maparasha hills are on a migration corridor for Amboseli National Park. During the dry season, there is insufficient grazing to support Amboseli's wildlife population. As a result, there is mass migration out of the park as far, and beyond Olomayiana. Take a look in our wildlife book to see what has passed through the farm, and please do add to it should you come across any game (large or small!) during your stay. Entries include porcupine, aardvark, leopard, lion, Zebra, Eland, buffalo, impala, monkeys and baboons as well as host of different birds. You can walk in the bush during the day and Ken our guide will accompany you. Grace will come each day to clean the rooms and wash-up. For extra cost, we can get someone to provide massage, facials, manicures and pedicures at the spa area by the pool. All power is solar (so no hairdryers or kettles!) and the water is safe to drink coming from our own bore hole, and also heated by solar power. The kitchen is fully equipped including a solar freezer - ice made by the sun! There is also a gas bbq up by the pool, and a charcoal pizza oven. You can have a camp fire whilst you sit and watch the night sky. The pool is a short walk from the main camp site. The cottages and tent bedrooms are spread out to allow privacy. There is a 10 minute walk to a purpose built sundowner spot with views of the whole valley or you can take a 20 minute walk to pride rock and view the 'cradle of mankind'.

Set on 80 acres you can access all parts of the farm and camp - either on foot or on one of our horses (there are extra charges for horse riding at $12 for a 1 to 2 hour hack). Our neighbours are very friendly and you can walk across their land or up into the hills for views as far as Tanzania including Kilimanjaro

We have several staff who live in a house near the stables. Daniel is our farm manager. Ken looks after the camp and guests and can also help you out with places to go and what to see, he is training as a safari guide. Stephen keeps the paths open and works on the land and Samwel looks after the horses. We also have Joseph who look after our cows by day and Simon who is the night guard. Janet comes each day to clean the rooms and do washing-up.

As well as the wildlife, and nearby trips to Amboseli National Park, we can arrange for you to visit a local Masai village, the local orphanage or further afield is a natural spring. All our neighbours are very welcoming.

You can buy vegetables and basics in Bisel, the nearest supermarket is in Kajiado which is a 30 minute drive. If coming from overseas we can arrange to have the kitchen stocked for you for extra charge.

You need a car! However if you don't have one, you can get to Bisel by public transport and then get a local motorbike taxi (boda boda) to the farm.

Ideally you need a 4 wheel drive vehicle to access Olomayiana. It can be done in a saloon car but it is bumpy! There are wild animals on the farm and so the owners assume no liability for damage to person or property of visitors from wildlife or accidents. Having said that walking on the paths and around the farm is fairly safe - just be careful if you venture into denser bush.

Nous avons adoré notre séjour. Aucune mauvaise surprise. Les installations ont parfaites. En cette saison, l'herbe est verte, et le camp n'en est que plus confortable. Nous reviendrons. Merci.

Seven of us stayed here (two families - parents, two seven year old boys, and a two and 1/2 year old boy) for two nights and everyone had a really wonderful time. The setting is beautiful, and the accommodations are unique and very comfortable. We spent a lot of time in the pool, and watching the many families of baboons playing around the watering hole. Everything is just as is written in the description and the reviews, and seen in the pictures. We will certainly try to come back!

Second time here and it's just as perfect as the first time. Feels like a home away from home. Thanks to Yolande and her family for sharing this truly magical place. Hope to be back again soon!

Amazing space, and the glass cottage and hobbit are really cool. The view from the hike nearby is fantastic.

I have been traveller all my life and get itchy feet if I am in one place for too long. I am a married mother of 3 who works full time and likes to be busy. I love the outdoors and Africa is home but I also spend time in Ireland and UK
