À propos de ce logement
A romantic hillside artist studio bungalow. Spacious open floor plan with floor-to-ceiling windows allowing for lots of natural light. Enjoy the treetop canyon views from the large outdoor deck. The place entices one to think, relax, create, and fall in love. It is located in the heart of everything East Side Los Angeles and was designed by Leigh Jerrard, an architect who worked under Frank Gehry at his practice.
The rental is a single, unattached studio - up three flights of stairs*- perched among the trees on the side of a hill. It is open and airy with high ceilings, hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a large floating wrap around deck with wonderful canyon and mountain views.
The many large windows give a sense of of openness and allow one to enjoy the beautiful views, but rest assured it is very private and there are dark blinds available on all the windows. The space has a 'full-size' Murphy Bed with a Natural Memory Foam mattress, an open kitchen, full bath, and a fast WiFi connection. It's been outfitted with funky art, quality furniture, good books, a television with working Wii w/ active Netflix account (NO CABLE or LOCAL TV), a DVD player, outdoor lounge chairs, a work desk, a working record player, records, an iPod hookup, an additional large outdoor fridge, cooking supplies and utensils, a ceramic toaster oven, and a propane BBQ.
Provided are clean bed sheets, clean towels, a coffee maker stocked with coffee, water boiler, tea, creamers, various sweeteners, Brita Filter, and shampoo/conditioner/bath soap.
There is plenty of easy and safe street parking right outside the house.
It's a working artist's studio that aims to invigorate, hopefully you'll stay here and enjoy the pleasure of that.
The space is simple, minimal, and spare. I love it; it is a safe haven.
To get to the studio, you must walk up about 45 steps - the equivalent of 3 flights of stairs. The views are worth it, but its not for everyone, unfortunately.

I live on the premises in a separate building and will do my best to assist you with whatever you need. The amount of interaction with me is completely up to you. I welcome hellos and any questions, or if you just want to hang out, or do something on the town, I'm happy to oblige.
The street is lush, friendly, safe, and the neighborhood is diverse with tons of character. It is filled with artists, locally-owned cafes, shops, hipster and non-hipster bars, and excellent food and drinks-from taco trucks to local and sustainable cuisine to nearby farmers markets nearly every day of the week to small wine and cheese shops.
It is centrally located in Elysian Park, right next to Echo Park, Silver Lake, Atwater Village, and only 10-20 minutes from downtown, Hollywood, Los Feliz, Burbank, Hyland Park, Eagle Rock, Little Tokyo, Chinatown, K-town, and a 45-min drive (off-peak) to the beach. It's very close to Dodgers Stadium and countless music venues.
A 15-minute walk through the hills and winding staircases takes you to nearby Elysian Park, a quintessential LA experience - a rural/urban park with lots of great trails. It's LA's oldest park and the 2nd largest.
For art lovers, you will find MOCA, the Geffen Contemporary, RedCat, Machine Project, Echo Park Film Center nearby and it's only 20 minutes to LACMA. Without traffic, you can get to the Hammer Museum and the Getty Center in about a half hour.
I know the neighborhood well, and provided in the space is a homemade guide of all the recommendations in the area.
For those who want to use public transportation, there is a bus stop down the street. And, of course, Uber/Lyft are LA's best friends.
I am super friendly and aim to please so please ask if there's something you need or want. Also, let me know if this is a special occasion and/or if there's something I can do to make your stay especially memorable. Please be sure to let me know if you see anything that needs to be fixed.
This is a much loved and well cared for home, so please treat it the same.
It is a quiet neighborhood street, and noise in the canyon carries, so please be aware of your noise level during after-hours, especially if the windows and doors are open.
There is no smoking in the studio, but smokers can lounge on the large outdoor deck. DO NOT FLICK YOUR BUTTS/ROACHES OFF THE DECK, MAJOR FIRE HAZARD (Also gross)! Please discard appropriately and safely. We are in a severe drought and things are very dry, making fire potential a serious issue.
No Pets. Although animals are loved, it is preferred to avoid allergens for future guests.
No photo shoots or video productions without consent, a different rate applies. Personal photos are obviously ok and welcomed.
These are just basic courtesies, you are certainly encouraged to enjoy your stay and have a great time in the space. Hopefully it will inspire you in some form or another.
Thanks very much! Look forward to hosting you.
