Golden is a hotbed of cycling for all types of cyclists—from beginners to pros AND from mountain and BMX to road bikers!!
And we take our procycling seriously—Golden hosted stages for the two USA Procycling in Challenge Races in 2011 and 2012! This year's USA Procycling Challenge came through Golden on Sunday August 24th, 2014. Reserve the apartment early for next year's ProChallenge cycling event--known locally as the "tour of Colorado"!!
LOCAL CYCLING: go for a ride up Lookout Mountain—which sits right above the Foothills of the Rockies apartment. It’s a ten minute ride to the base of Lookout from the apartment. It usually takes me 40 minutes to ride up Lookout—compared to the record 14 minutes for the pros! What will your time be?
Want to mountain bike instead?
The world famous Apex trail trailhead is ½ mile from my Air B&B apartment. Check out the excellent single track at 7000 feet with a great view of Denver and the foothills from the top.
Did somebody say kayaking—we’ve got one of the best white water kayaking parks right in downtown Golden!
Check out the link in the guidebook.
Not your thing?—want to rock climb instead? Excellent rock climbing is available within 5 miles of the apartment on North Table Mountain in Golden!
If something with a motor is more your thing—Thunder Valley Motocross Park is just down the street. Check out the link in the Guidebook!
And if you want to just kickback and enjoy a concert at world famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre—check it out—2 miles from the Air B&B apartment (link in the Guidebook). You could ride your bike there –I always do! But be ready for the altitude—‘cause you’re already at 6250 feet when you leave the driveway of the house!
The “Foothills of the Rockies” Apartment is 1 hour from the best skiing in the world! Check out the Arapahoe Basin webcams for the latest snow conditions—and I mean the latest—cause their live webcams!
No matter what you do for fun--its all here for you-- nearby the "Foothills of the Rockies" apartment. I'm looking forward to hosting you!

I am very respectful of my guest's privacy. Some folks like to chat more than others and I'm totally good with that. I am happy to provide guests with tips on where to eat and hike in the area. And even where to rent a bike in town. I usually follow the lead of my guests in terms of how much communication that would like to have. I do prefer that my guests let me know in advance of when they will be checking in and checking out; that way I can make my plans accordingly.
I love that I can hike, literally from my front door; and cycle some pretty challenging climbs within minutes of my house. Golden is a very friendly place --with the feel of a small mountain town but only 15 minutes from downtown Denver.
The new West Line Light Rail Station in Golden (called Jefferson County Gov't Center) is a mile from the apartment, so guests can catch it at Union Station in Downtown Denver and grab the community bus (included in the price of the light rail ticket) from the station to my front door. This bus runs every day except Sundays. So if you don't have a car--that's no problem. Bike rentals are readily available at Peak Cycles in downtown Golden. We have a rate sheet for Peak Cycles available in the apartment for guest use.
Dear Guests, because the Air B & B Apartment is the bottom floor of my own house, it’s extremely important that guests and host show respectful behavior to each other. My house is a smoke free environment and I do not allow pets on the property because I myself have a big dog--and he likes to rule the roost! Please see my House Manual for more details on my house rules, apartment amenities and safety while visiting. I look forward to meeting you.

I am a Research Associate and spend lots of time with my head in the data. So, when I'm not working, I love to be outside. That's why I love living in Golden. I can walk out my door and climb up multiple hiking and mountain biking trails. I also love that downtown "old town" Golden is 5 minutes away, with lots of restaurants, bars, museums, parks and Clear Creek close at hand. And I'm 1 hour from the best skiing in the country, Summit County. And when I want to rock out--Red Rocks Amphitheatre is 2 miles from my house. Sometimes in the summer when the wind is right--you can hear the concerts in the distance. But mostly I love to ride my bike--and the foothills of Golden is a great place to cycle--I start out at 6200 feet riding out my driveway--so the altitude keeps me challenged.
