This beachfront property offers a stunning 270-degree ocean view of Gabriola Island and the Nanaimo harbour. It's perfect for a summer getaway or an artist retreat. If you're looking to write, our bookshelves will provide inspiration. This bright, 3-bedroom house comes with private beach access, a yard where children can play, and a deck where visitors can relax, practice yoga, or just watch the many colours of the west coast sunset.
Treetops Retreat is located down an unpaved, cedar-chip private lane on the east side of Protection Island. The morning arrives with stunning sunrise views of the Sunshine Coast and Gabriola Island. In the evening, the sun sets over the water. (You may have heard about the gorgeous west coast sunsets.) The beach is a few feet away, accessible via a short path in the front yard, which means you'll get all the beach time you need on sunny summer days. The wash of the waves will lull you to sleep at night. The most noticeable feature of the house is its windows, which ensure the space is filled with light. The wood fireplace creates a warm, snug atmosphere on any rainy west coast nights. ('Couch / crackling fire / good book' is a popular combination.) With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and large patio overlooking the beach, there is plenty of space to spread out. The house is full of books and artwork. We welcome those interested in reading, writing, painting or afternoon naps.
Accès des voyageurs
Guests will have access to the entire house and features include back yard, beach access, kitchen, living room, study, deck and roof deck.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
Interaction with the guest will be left to a minimum -- ferry pick up / drop off & exchanging of keys -- to ensure maximum privacy during your stay.
You cannot drive on to the island. Pay parking is available in Nanaimo, as previously stated. Also, there are no shops or grocery stores on the island, so any and all supplies should be purchased prior to your arrival on Protection. There is a Thrifty's Food, a BC Liquor store, a London Drugs and several other shops in Port Place mall, within walking distance of the Protection Island ferry.
Please treat this treasure like you would your own. There are numerous pieces of art in the house as well as an antique Steinway piano that should be treated with respect. Other than that, please take your shoes off inside and enjoy your stay in paradise.
I am a mother of two, and a retired community nurse living on Protection Island for the last 15 years. I love the island pace and lifestyle, and am an avid international traveller. Music and art are influential in my life and I have been collecting local and international art for years. I enjoy sunny summer days in the garden and swimming off the point at Treetops Retreat.
