Attic room (upstairs on the third floor) with twin bed in 100+ year old Victorian home on a quiet street, one and one-half mile from Richmond city center. All bedding and towels are provided, but we only wash once per week because we are Earth Friendly. We share the rest of the house, including bathrooms (first and second floor), with our guests.

We are happy to share our Victorian home (circa 1900) for a day, a week, or even a month. It’s on a quiet street, just one and one-half miles from the center of the city of Richmond. Perfect for med school rotations at MCV. Your room, called the Sky Room because of the painted ceiling with faintly glowing stars at night, is in the finished attic (upstairs on the third floor). It was the room of our daughter who has since grown up and gone to college. It has a folding door (see photo), a single (twin) bed, a chest of drawers, a small closet, a desk for a bit of business work, and a loooong window seat. All bedding, linens, and towels are provided, but we only wash once per week because we are Earth Friendly. We and other guests share with you the two full bathrooms (first and second floor), TV room, parlor, dining room, gourmet kitchen, laundry, piano, WiFi, and on-street parking. The ceilings in many rooms are 10 feet high where there are a few cobwebs to be seen. From your window you can see the fenced-in back yard. In the front is a lovely porch swing for relaxing and watching the neighbors walk their babies and doggies. Safety equipment includes fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. We have a small affectionate dog named Henry, a disinterested cat named Lilli, and an affectionate cat named Meke. To sum it up, we live in an old house with lots of character, cracking paint, cobwebs in the corners, and pets. If you are looking for a chlorox-clean hotel that washes your towel every day, or if you are alergic to pets, you'll be happier finding a different host.

Our home is on the periphery of Richmond, Virginia in one of its first suburbs, constructed in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Richmond is a perfect location for exploring the Commonwealth of Virginia. You can visit nearby attractions like Monument Avenue, Richmond International Raceway, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, and the War Memorial (1-2 miles away), Virginia’s famous beaches (1.5 hour drive), make a day or weekend trip to Washington DC (1.5 hour drive), or hike off Skyline Drive in the Appalachian Mountains (1.5 hour drive). There are superb walking and biking trails within 5-10 minutes walk of our home (and the James River Park System ((URL HIDDEN) maintains verdant parks too numerous to list, all within a short walk of our home).
