A beautiful, sunny apartment next to the Rhine! Our flat is in a neat, four-storey house from 1911, newly renovated with a spacious kitchen and bathroom. Perfect for a couple, a small family; – people who like to go for a morning swim in the river.
No hotel- or b'n'b-atmosphere but a living and indivudual set up flat. That's the way you live in Basel!

We rent out our privat apartment during our absences. There will be a member of Jakobs family for direct contact and the practical stuff (we will be available for all questions still...).
You will have the apartment for yourself. No other person will be there during your stay.
For your information:
For a 3rd and 4th person you can use our sofa, which turns into a comfortable bed in one very easy step. It has a real matress (200x140). Fits very well for one adult or two children.
The bed in the bedroom has hard matresses. We love them and sleep very well on them.
We can hand out a second key to the space on request.
- no smoking
- no pets
- there are children in the flat above and they thank you for some quietness after 9pm
We are a couple living and working in Basel/Switzerland, without any of us actually being swiss. Jakob is a half danish, half dutch man, 30 years of age, a musician who particularly works with choirs - both with conducting and singing. He is studying a Masters in Philosophy in Germany. Aina is half finnish, half norwegian, 29 years old who came to Switzerland because she fell in love (with Jakob). She has a bachelors degree in philosophy and sociology and at the moment she is studying for a MA Philosophy in Germany. She is also working part time at a farm/living space for disabled people.
We are both open and interested in people - and in the world in general. We appreciate to go in depth with places, people and topics: Things mostly turn out to be more interesting then... This is why we prefer to live where people lives when visiting other places, and not at a hotel or hostel. Although we are neither in the need of, nor expecting to be guided or entertained by our hosts, we like the atmosphere of a home, and of people living their lives around us. With that being said, we also need our own space, privacy and a certain amount of quiet - especially at night.
Our interests, to sum some of them up, are first and foremost music. We both sing, mostly classical, but also folk, rock (Jakob used to be a lead singer in a rock band), and Joni Mitchell (Aina's favorite). Walking in nature is important (and the swiss or norwegian mountains are as made for great hikes). Food is also essential, and Aina is an ice-cream lover who always tries to search out the best parlor in town. She is always happy for a tip!
These are the basics about us. We are happy to share more if there is an occasion for it.
