Description

1505 is located in the heart of Echo Park. It is surrounded by a garden of native plants giving off the delicious scent of California's wilderness. The interior of the bungalow is designed by Ramsey Conder and Beatrice Valenzuela.

The house is a completely renovated 1930's gem. We spent the last year refinishing everything to make it beautiful, comfortable, and enjoyable for all our guests. The house features a new full kitchen, dining room with settings for six, and a spacious living room. There are three bedrooms, two of which have king sized beds and a third with a daybed, TV, and library. There is a lovely, private outside sitting area as well as a yard full of native California plants.

Our guest have access to the entire home, garden, fenced in yard and driveway.

We would be glad to help out with any questions about the neighborhood.

1505 is within walking distance to Sunset Blvd and its restaurants, boutiques, cafes, bars, and music venues. Our favorite place for groceries is Cookbook just up the street. You can find cheese, bread, sardines and produce that will blow your mind.

For breakfast you have a few choices all about a five minute walk away. Dinette has a breakfast flat bread pizza that's delicious, Valerie's has a caramel croissant that will stick in your head all day, and Ostrich Farm provides a full brunch. Blue Bottle Coffee opened recently with some delicious third wave coffee. Squirl is further afield, but excellent as well.

At lunch Alejandra's food cart sells blue corn quesadillas on Echo Park Ave south of Sunset Blvd under a rainbow umbrella, rivaling those of Mexico, for one of the best things you'll eat in LA. The chicharones and calabacitas combo is so good. Cookbook brings out their freshly prepared sandwiches and salads around noon everyday and will be sold out by three so get there early! Knuckle and Claw offers perfect lobster and crab rolls. Guisados has some delicious tacos on outstanding corn tortillas and a variety that will surprise you.

If you are on foot go to Ostrich Farm for dinner. Xoya is also good, get the chicharon tacos...they're more like carnitas, or the chicken-rice. If you have a ride and want to stay within a three mile radius go to: Cliff's Edge and sit in the outdoor garden, L&E for oysters, fries, and bubbly, Alimento for handmade pasta, El Condor for mezcal and mexican food, or Night Market Song for northern Thai drinking food and excellent wine.

For a five minute walk and a drink go to El Prado. Order some walnuts to crack open with your beer. You'll also hear some good records. Or catch a ride and enjoy the excellent cocktails at Bar Stella.

The neighborhood has two parks, Echo Park Lake and Elysian Park which are great for hiking and exploring. Go for the canoe ride around the lake. It gives you about 20 minutes on the water and is much more enjoyable than the paddle boats.

Los Angeles is a metropolis, but its neighborhoods provide hidden charm and beauty. Jonathan Gold's Essential 101 and LA Times food column, 5 Every Day's app and Instagram, and the Nobody Hikes in LA blog can help guide the way.

We have a 1983 VW camper vanagon available for rent. There is a bus stop near the house.

There is a small nursery next door that sells some of the most beautiful cactus in the world. They share the trash bins with us so you might occasionally see Johnny disposing bags in the bins on the driveway.
