This cozy, colorful and brand new trailer-apartment that I designed my self and had build is ideal for a couple. It has a beautiful chic bathroom, two beds that can be put together, fully equipped kitchen and eating counter with bar stools

Le logement

The apartment is in a garden where you can also park your rented car. You share the garden with another separate apartment. The apartment has free WIFI, (no roaming costs) AC, fridge, TV and amenities such as coffee maker, toaster, smoothie maker, cooking ware, utensils, dinner ware, glasses. The fridge will be stocked with breakfast items, such as bread, eggs, juice, milk. Complimentary coffee, tea, fruit and cereal and always a welcome bottle of wine

Accès des voyageurs

The whole apartment is yours to be enjoyed, the patio and the garden.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I live in the house close to the apartment and I am available simply by coming over to see me or reaching me by using the complimentary apartment cellular phone. I am also available to suggest where to go or eat and will even accompany you on request and if I am available to join you to take you local spots

Autres remarques

Staying in the heart of San Nicolas, will give you an authentic local experience, if that is what you are interested in, instead of a resort experience. My apartment usually attracts travelers, not tourists. I have lived for 35 years, combined in Toronto and New York and worked as an educator and successful performing artist, so hosting and entertaining come naturally to me. I love to share stories and get to know my guests if the feeling is mutual. I also value your privacy, but I am there should you need me. I love what I do and I have been named Super Host 7 times, that is 99% of the time, since I have been hosting, within a span of only three years. So yes, I am pleased and I am always trying to improve my self as a host. There is nothing that pleases me more than to see my guest happy.

Had a lovely time with Emerita in Aruba! We stayed for the second half of our week-long vacation. The two beaches she suggested were wonderful, and my favorite on the island. We are very happy that we had a car - it would have been quite inconvenient if we were walking, as the beaches and restaurants are a bit of a drive (10-15 minutes). Good access to Arikok Nat'l Park, although you can get there just as easily from the north. A much more "local" Aruba experience than staying up north! Thanks, Emerita! One caveat - getting the keys from Emerita's family was a bit of a struggle. When we arrived, we were asked to come back later, despite being told that we could come at that time. If Emerita will not be home, perhaps wait until she is home to get to the apartment.

Hi Lydia, Thank you for your heartfelt review. Appreciated. I am glad you had a lovely time. I enjoyed our chats in the evening, especially Chris' stories.... I need to clear the following up. In my airbnb profile it says and I quote. "Getting around: There are buses and auto buses along the main road. However if you want to explore the island it is best to rent a car, jeep, motorcycle or what ever else you can rent or pay for, to go on a tour around the island. There are several tour operators you can book with." I mention this so every one can make an informed decision. So you don't have to walk to the beach, only to the bus station (many of my guests do this) and from there you can take a mini van bus and be at our nearest beach, Baby Beach in around 10 minutes or so. About the key....Remember when I introduced you to my father, who was supposed to hand you the keys. He explained that there had been an honest misunderstanding...because he was not wearing his hearing aid at the time (90 years old) and thought you guys were local friends dropping by, yes I have friends that drop by sometimes. He came to apologize to you and you laughed and accepted his apology. This is the very first time this happened, so I want my guests to know that you always get your keys on arrival and get taken to the apartment in case I am not home at the moment. Usually I am there to welcome you with a bottle of chilled wine and snacks under the gazebo. I also check in with my guests regularly, to see if they need anything else, in your case an icebox, a mat for the beach etc. All the best with your graduate studies and to Chris with his artistic endeavors. Cheers!

Emerita gave me a lot of information and organized everything well, even she herself wasn't in town. Her family was helpful and friendly. The apartment was as described and well-kept. The fridge was filled with breakfast stuff and the kitchen is well-equipped.

Staying with Emerita was a unique local experience. As she describes, her place is especially wonderful for travelers that enjoy going beyond your average tourist experience. The guest house was clean and comfortable with everything we needed and we were able to make some meals in the kitchen and using her grill. We were a 5-10 minute drive from my favorite beach on the island, baby beach, about 15 minutes from downtown, and about 30 or so minutes from the high-rise hotel tourist area. The neighborhood was safe quiet and friendly. Emerita and her son, who was in from Canada, were the best hosts we have ever had and we truly feel that we have two new friends. I would definitely stay again and hope to see Emerita again in the future!

I could not have asked for a better experience for my first visit to Aruba. If you are looking for a more personal experience away from the tourist scene of the island, Emerita's is perfect. I did not get a chance to meet Emerita as she was away during my stay, but her father and brother were so friendly and helpful with almost anything I could have needed during my stay. I like to experience my travel destinations from a different perspective, and one of my goals on this trip was to see Aruba from outside the tourism that makes the island so famous. I was able to achieve that goal during the stay and in speaking with Emerita's family. Thank you so much for being the most gracious of hosts. Would highly recommend!

I didn't get the chance to meet Emerita. She had a family event she was attending which she did let me know in advance that she was attending. I got the pleasure of meeting her brother, sister and dad! They were all very welcoming and pleasant and ready to assist. It was very much like having our little private living area. Our living space was located right behind Emerita's house. It's perfect if you plan to be out most of the time and just want somewhere to sleep or relax for a bit. There's a mini fridge and a gas burner in case you want to cook alittle something. I personally suggest getting a rental so you can explore more of the island! But if you do plan on taking the bus it's not bad. The locals are really nice and willing to help you as well. Our 1st night we took the bus but it helped us learn our way around Aruba so when we finally got a rental car we drove around as if we were home (which is basically the same really.. Just a few differences) The whole experience was AMAZING!! This was my 1st time traveling outside the country and I can say I felt very comfortable being here. Lastly (in hopes of communicating with Airbnb as well) when you're sent the address of the location it does not give the entire address (like the number) it just gives the street name which will make going through customs more time consuming BUT aside from that everything was AWESOOOOOOME!! Thank you again to you AND your family Emerita!! Until next time!!

I am an Aruban born Canadian, so Aruban by nature and Canadian by nurture. Have lived and worked in Toronto and New York, as a performing artist and an educator, combined for over 30 years, gives me a good idea what experiences guests long for. Nowadays a lot of people want an authentic experience when they travel abroad and connect with the local people and its culture in its own environment. And in this way building life long meaningful relationships and repeat visits.
A bit about Aruba:

I am curious, self assured, trust worthy, loyal, patient, gregarious, generous, a good listener, a lover of life, wisdom (earned).

Love to travel, play percussion, sing, learn new things, like sports, games, water sports etc.

Favorite destinations: Italy, New York, Montreal,
I would love to visit Brazil, Thailand and France one day
Explore Africa and its many traditions of music, dance and art
Books: I like reading autobiographies of people who have survived against all odds, high consciousness books,
I would like to learn to cook like a gourmet chef
I like thrillers, comedies and films based on great novels
I like musicals on Broadway
I love World Music, Jazz, R&B, Soul Music and Classical Music
I love Italian and Thai cuisine, but also sushi, Caribbean food and yes seafood

As a guest i would be respectful and find out what the "protocol" is in your home. what is expected and stick to the arrangement. i would like to get to know my host as a person and also to get tips on where to go, to eat etc. I would let my host know when to expect me back and call if i am going to be late if I am sharing a house.

As a host I would do all of the above and do my best to make it a wonderful experience. i would invite my guests for a welcome drink, coffee or a meal. I would make sure everything was clean and in working order.

My motto for life is: when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
I prefer to look at my glass as half full rather than half empty.
