Rés-da-Rua is a self-managed house in the city center of Porto. We are a group of 10 adults, 2 children and 1 cat living together and sharing some values such as cooperation, solidarity, inclusion and openness. Our decisions about the house are made together and by consensus and we try to live as we wish the world would be. We also share food and different tasks around the house, and we try to eat together whenever we can.
Besides the house, we are trying to develop different projects open to to the city. We have a vegetarian community kitchen open 3 days a week where people pay what they think is fair, we do cultural events (concerts, movie nights, workshops, debates, etc) and there's also an open working place where any person can do carpentry, build musical instruments, repair bicycles, paint etc. You are welcome to join any of these activities when you visit and to eat with us in exchange of a donation.
Accès des voyageurs
Our house has 4 floors, downstairs is the big kitchen and the area where we do activities for the street. On the next floor is your room, one bathroom, a little kitchen, and the living room, you are welcome to use any of this areas. The top 2 floors is where the rest of us live ;)
We also have a garden in the back and we're starting a vegetable garden next to it.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
There's always someone at the house, usually in the kitchen (eating is a very common social activity around here ;) )
You have your private place and the room has it's own entrance in case you want privacy, but we would be glad to get to know you a little bit, to give some tips about the city and to share some ideas with you and maybe even to show you around if you want and we have time ;)
The house can be noisy because we are many people living here, we do events until midnight in the ground floor from Thursday to Saturday and it's in a busy street of the city, but we'll do our best not to disturb your sleep.
