À propos de ce logement
Well loved family holiday home with amazing views, set in the Pembrokeshire National Park. Close to fantastic walking and beaches Garn Fach is very comfortable and simple. A great place to relax by the fire or use as a base for further exploration.
Garn Fach is a 400 year old mountainside cottage. It has been well loved and well used. The views are spectacular and many visitors want to return year after year.
Dogs are welcome but only if they are sheep friendly. The cottage is on the mountainside and is surrounded by pasture which is frequented by sheep. You will need to keep gates closed as much as possible.
Towels will not be provided unless especially requested.
There is a washing machine at the cottage (in the shed) but no drying machine
The kitchen is a basic galley style - perfectly sufficient but not if you are cooking banquets!.. there is no dishwasher.
The nearest shop is in the village at the bottom of the mountain – if you are arriving in the evening you might want to bring a few supplies…
The water supply at the cottage is pumped up from a spring, it goes through a UV filtration process this theoretically kills bacteria, we, as owners, do drink the water without problems however we cannot recommend its use as drinking water to others.
Sometimes in the summer the water if used excessively during the day can run low in the evening , it will recover by morning. Please use the lovely soft mountain water sparingly.
There is more car parking up the track, in the field with the turning circle behind the cottage, this may be easier to use if you have a large car, please be careful if the grass is wet your tyres may struggle.
• Check-in time is 2PM.

Make sure the television is switched on at the wall. The tv is a relatively new "smart" one, the standard signals can be weak on the side of the hill but it does work, sometimes you may even pick up Irish channels! As the tv is internet connected you should also be able to access iplayer and all the other services.
Games / Jigsaws
There are several family and children's games and jigsaws in the main sitting room – i.e. Buckaroo, Connect 4, Tumbling Monkeys. These are kept in the chest of drawers and in wooden chest by the fire place. You are welcome to use them but please put them back and try not to lose any pieces!
The hot water switch is by the fridge. Water takes about 1 hour to heat up.
The water into Garn Fach comes from a spring – water is pumped from a spring holding tank into the cottage. In the summer this may be running a little lower. Please therefore if at all possible do not use excessive amounts of water in the summer. A washing machine load, a bath and general washing up each day should be fine. If however the water appears to be running lower and the taps start to spit or dribble please just bear with the situation. The tank tends to fill up again overnight and the water flow should be restored by the morning.
There is a washing machine in the shed at the end of the cottage. There is a line for drying clothes in the garden and there should be a pegs hanging up on the line. If you want to use a launderette there is one in Newport and also in Fishguard (Cathy's Laundrette and Cleaning tel (phone number hidden)).
These are usually turned off in the summer. If you REALLY need to put them on, turn the switch on the wall to ‘on' and they will start to send out heat overnight. Do not alter the temperature switches. There is also an extra portable heater upstairs.
In the winter we will provide firewood and coal for the first night of your stay, after this supplies can be sourced at the garage in Dinas and you will need to cover this cost yourselves.
As there are usually sheep on the surrounding mountainside please keep the gates shut at all time.
