Jacqueline's house is a ten minute walk from Brockley train station which is two stops from London Bridge, in the heart of the capital. The room I stayed in was spacious with a huge window overlooking the garden. The bed was very comfortable and Jacqueline offered me breakfast in the morning. I was very grateful for a cup of coffee, but I'm not one to eat breakfast generally. When I'm in London again I would be delighted to stay there again. Jacqueline is very personable and I felt like a long time friend after talking with her. We had many shared interests, including the Harlem Renaissances period in New York City and the great art, literature and music of that time. She very kindly gave me a copy of a book she had written about an African American woman's experience during that period, and I look forward to reading it. I was visiting family members, who recently settled in the Brockley area and would like to recommend two great local restaurants where we had dinner. Try Gantry Restaurant and Villa Toscana Italian Restaurant you will find the food great. Thanks Jacqueline......................Hugs
Jacqueline was very good at communicating before we arrived, and when we turned up, she was there at the gate to greet us. She made us very welcome, and showed us where everything was. The area is a leafy suburb of south London, with an overground link to the city (underground link at Canada Water) very regularly, some local shops and a lovely park. The street itself seemed very quiet. The double room was very nice, the bed comfortable, and plenty of wardrobe space. The shared bathroom was simple but had everything we needed. We had access to a sitting room and kitchen, and were asked what we wanted for breakfast - we only needed milk, coffee (a cafetiere) and fruit juice, and this was no problem. Jacqueline made us very welcome, and should we ever need to be in that part of London again, we would certainly like to return.
