À propos de ce logement
Rosemary Cottage is a 2 bedroom/4 person plus cot, 18th century fisherman's cottage, nestling in a quiet road within 5 minutes of the vibrant Harbour Bowl and 10 minutes of the Town Centre where there is plenty to do and visit. A relaxing place to wind down after a busy day, our family feel cottage hints at its nautical past. To be clear, there is no parking immediately outside the property. There is street parking within 5-10 minutes walk.
From the pastel washed front of the cottage set back from the road, you enter straight into the living room with its low ceiling and wooden beams, it has a soft airy feel, with comfy sofa and relaxing tub chairs.
We provide all bed linen and bathroom towels. And if you stay more than 2 weeks we change the linen mid-way for free.
There's a flat screen TV, DVD and CD player, window seat looking out onto the quiet road, quaint fireplace with log burner effect electric heater and wall lights to create a great space for relaxation. A folding table and chairs can be pulled out for informal dining.
Through the door to the modern-equipped kitchen which has a full sized oven and hob, fridge and small freezer compartment, washing machine, microwave, stainless steel basin and draining board, and the usual equipment for four people. From here a wooden "stable door" opens out onto the patio and shared courtyard which is a real suntrap, where you can sit at the cafe style table to eat and drink alfresco admiring our lovely Rosemary bush.
Back into the front room you ascend the spiral stairs to the first floor and the well proportioned main double bedroom with its West Country seaside ambiance. The double bed has a comfortable mattress, and the room features the usual bedroom facilities and cupboards for clothes. The hairdryer is in the drawer. There is a window seat for "people watching" in the street below. Across the landing is a modern shower room with a larger than average shower area, basin, mirror and large window creating a bright and airy space to wash in.
Ascending the spiral staircase once more takes you to the second floor with its twin bedroom. From the window seat there are great views out over the main harbour and its breakwater, and towards the Bay and Torquay.
We provide a small number of books, games, puzzles and DVDs, and guides to local things to do, maps and pamphlets to keep everyone entertained for those "stay at home" evenings.
There is an airer inside and clothes drying lines in the enclosed shared courtyard to the rear of the property, for drying clothes and those towels and swimsuits after a day at the beach!

Rosemary Cottage sits in a Conservation Area in the old part of the Town set back from and overlooking the harbour, and dates back a couple of hundred years. All the surrounding buildings are listed also form part of the Conservation Area and we have to ensure the building fits in with the style and character of the area. The town and harbour area are easily accessible on foot within a few minutes.
Brixham forms the southern part of the semi-circular Torbay. The area is known as the English Riviera, and it gets that title due to its mild climate and sun-blessed coastline. Brixham is an old fishing town, an activity that is carried on to this day. The fishing fleet supplies fresh fish and shell fish to many parts of Britain, and boasts many well-known restaurants and chefs amongst its clientele.
The town is a great holiday attraction due to its climate, its narrow old town streets, its independent stores, shops and eating places which offer visitors a wide range of facilities. Nearby are beaches at St Mary's, Fishcombe Cove, Broadsands and Goodrington Sands. A little further on is Paignton Sands and the beach at Torquay.
Other activities in the town include fishing and sight-seeing trips around the bay and the local coast and estuaries.
Brixham also hosts a Pirate Fest each year when the town is visited by the "hoards" of swash-buckling pirates - all having a good time. A replica of Sir Francis Drake's Golden Hind, in which he sailed round the world in the late 16th Century, is moored in the harbour and provides an insight to the life and times of England's Elizabethan era of exploration.
Close by for days trips is Kingswear with the Dart Valley steam train service to Paignton, and across the estuary (by ferry is fun) is Dartmouth, famous for its Britannia Royal Naval College where many of Britain's and the world's leading seafarers have been put through their paces. Round Torbay are the delights of the resorts of Paignton, with its zoo, and Torquay, with it more chic atmosphere, where you can wonder around the marina admiring the luxury motor boats and yachts.
For longer days out there is Dartmoor National Park where you can immerse yourself in the wild countryside of Devon, and walk for miles without seeing a crowd. Plymouth and Exeter for larger shopping opportunities are around a 50 minute drive.
Most things in Brixham are a short walk away, but remember it can be a bit hilly in places. There is a pretty good bus service nearby that serves Brixham and the surrounding towns. And the ferry across the bay to Torquay is a real treat. Your car will enable you to explore the coast and visit the more secluded places around.
Rosemary Cottage is old the ceilings are low and the stairs are a bit steep which all add to its charm and authenticity. Whilst it is family friendly, parents are advised to ensure that children are properly supervised.
We also operate an "animal free" environment, due to some of our family and friends being allergic to animal fur and their dander. Please therefore do NOT bring animals with you. If you do we'll have to charge an immense amount of money to have the whole Cottage cleaned to be free of traces of your animals!
Parking is free on the surrounding roads, but you may have to "shop around", with a small "drop off" area in front of the cottage. There is more parking back into the Town and Breakwater area in large public car parks.
We don't allow smoking of any sort, including e-cigarettes, as most our guests want to enjoy the fresh air and environment. If you need to smoke please do so outside and dispose of your cigarette butts in a suitable container after fully extinguishing them. Do not leave in the street or on the patio or shared courtyard as it upsets the neighbours and as you will appreciate is not what everyone wants to see.
Equally we do not allow pets in the property at any time as some guests, including the owners, are allergic to animal fur.
No naked flames, eg candles or joss sticks as they represent a fire hazard and is a condition of our insurance and therefore of your booking.
Wash up any used crockery and pots & pans and return them to their places in the kitchen.
We understand that sometimes things will get broken or damaged. If you break or damage something please let us and/or the Changeover Partners know so we can replace or repair. For small breakages we don't charge you to replace. We reserve the right to ask for compensation if you damage something more significant or will provide negative feedback.
Please make sure you you turnoff all electrical equipment when you leave, turn heaters down to 1.5, return the main keys to the key safe outside on the front wall near the black downpipe and leave the spares in the lock rear door.
Children should be supervised at all times as, while the Cottage is ok for children, the Cottage is old and has steep stairs. We provide a travel cot and stair gate so children can be safeguarded. It is your responsibility to ensure these are set up properly.
We have permanent residents as neighbours. Be respectful of them and keep noise to an acceptable level and to an absolute minimum after 10.00pm and before 8.00am.
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 7 jours avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement à hauteur de 50 % et les frais de service vous sont remboursés intégralement.
