Description

Desert Trails is a rustic B&B on property bordering Saguaro Nat'l Park East: great hiking, birding, horseback riding. Room has a queen bed, full bath, WiFi, in-room control A/C-heat, and TV. Full breakfast included. Reviews on Tripadvisor .

Desert Trails borders Saguaro National Park and is situated on 3 + acres in the transition zone between lowland Sonoran desert and riparian mesquite bosque. Due to our proximity to the park the area is zoned low density and is very quiet. Our road, Speedway Blvd., dead-ends at the Douglas Spring Trailhead just two miles east so we don't have through traffic. Hiking, birding, and horseback riding are quite literally just outside our door.

Guests are encouraged to enjoy all the common areas including the great room, breakfast room, patios, pool area, and desert picnic tables. Private areas are clearly marked and the kitchen is off limits unless you just want to refill the tea kettle. In the hall closet there is a guest refrigerator, and in the breakfast room there are a microwave and tea kettle for guest use. We provide free soft drinks, bottled water, fruit, snacks and hot beverages throughout the day.

We opened Desert Trails Bed and Breakfast in 1997 and like to think of ourselves as hospitality professionals. A full breakfast is served daily from 7 to 9 am at which time we are more than happy to assist guests in planning their day. We have lived in the Tucson area since the early 1980's and have traveled and hiked extensively throughout the region. We have a large collection of guide books and maps for dining, hiking, birding and touring in SE Arizona. Time permitting, we are always happy to provide recommendations/opinions regarding the merits of local attractions and restaurants.

The Tanque Verde Valley was once home to cattle and dude ranches. The last cattle lease in Saguaro National Park expired in 1979 and cattle operations have been replaced by residential horse properties, an Arabian horse farm, and the Tucson Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. Of the genuine dude ranches, only the Tanque Verde Guest Ranch remains. If you want to have the "dude ranch" experience for a fraction of the cost, stay at Desert Trails and ride in the national park with Houston's Horseback Riding. The Houston's are our friends and neighbors who conduct guided trail rides, summer horse camps, riding lessons, and steak dinner trail rides, information (EMAIL HIDDEN)
The Tanque Verde Wash is a perennial stream that drains the Santa Catalina and Rincon Mountains and is just a 10 minute walk away. It has been designated an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area by the Tucson Audubon Society; Pima County has designated it an Important Riparian Area and a Priority Conservation Area for its value as a wildlife corridor. Needless to say, the wash, our property, and Saguaro National Park are great for birding and wildlife viewing. We regularly see coyote, javelina and the occasional white-tail deer and bobcat on our property, in addition to innumerable bird species including both desert and riparian species.

We have ample free parking but unfortunately, the nearest bus stop is three miles away. There are a number of bike shops in the area that offer road, touring, and mountain bike rentals; there is one business that will deliver and pick up bikes wherever you like.

Each of our guest rooms has in-room A/C and heat control, WiFi, TV/DVD, all rooms also have a minimum of a table and two chairs. All baths have shower/tub, hairdryers, shampoo, body wash, and hand soap. A guest refrigerator is available for your beverages and we provide wine and champagne glasses, cork screw, and ice bucket. Each room has a binder where you'll find a welcome letter explaining house rules, instructions for the TV and WiFi, a shopping map of nearby stores and services, and a list of some 20 nearby, independent restaurants, along with their menus, and a map showing their location.

Règlement intérieur
L'entrée dans les lieux se fait après 15:00

My wife Steffi and I enjoy various outdoor activities, such as hiking and birding. We have been in the Tucson area for more than 25 years and have been hosting guests since we established Desert Trails B&B in 1997.
