À propos de ce logement
South Shore is Eilean Shona's most remote cottage, set just above the stunning Shoe Bay. It's a unique experience to stay in this charming off grid cottage surrounded by sweeping views.
South Shore Cottage is fabulous, but not for the faint-hearted. It is the most remote of Shona's six cottages. A private motor launch will transport you for 20 minutes across Loch Moidart and around the island to South Shore. The cottage does not have a slipway, so be prepared to jump on to the rocky shore (no great problem for the reasonably agile.) Once ashore, a steep path, which is muddy in wet weather, leads up to the South Shore. If all that sounds a bit daunting, any inconvenience will be quickly forgotten when you arrive at the cottage itself. Standing high and quite alone on the hillside and facing west, you will be treated to lovely views across all the little surrounding islands and away to the Atlantic beyond.
The cottage has been completely renovated to a high standard, with a cosy sitting room with stove, and newly upgraded kitchen, double bedroom and spacious bathroom.
It has no electricity (you will dine out on this place for months to come!), cooking is by gas and lighting is by gas lamps - tuition will be given on arrival as to how to manage them. Heating and hot water is run from the stove, water is from a private spring (can be peaty).
And let's not forget South Shore's other main attraction - it is within walking distance of Shoe Bay, Eilean Shona's own secluded beach, with its silver sand lapped by an aquamarine sea. This cottage is truly a unique experience. You are not entirely cut off here. A 45 minute hike across the island will bring you to the main landing stage.

Our manager, Paul Waddington and his team are available to help you on the island during your stay and arrange transport, as well as give tips on walks and other things to do.
Very close to the landing pontoon, in the village hall, we have wi-fi for all cottage guests to use, as well as a ping pong table and books to read. We also have a wildlife sightings white board.
The cottage is self-catering so you will need to bring food for your stay. There is a Morrisons store right next to Fort William Train Station. In addition, we can help arrange food deliveries to the island. We have a small shop located next to the Village Hall which sells essentials in case you may have forgotten anything.
Eilean Shona aspires to be carbon-neutral by encouraging recycling where possible, limiting the use of plastics, wood burning stoves etc.
To get the most out of Eilean Shona, it helps to be at one with nature by respecting the environment, not lighting unsupervised fires, and being kind to the staff and fellow cottage guests!
