Rustic Lakefront log cabin located on the shores of Northwest Pond/ Seboies Lake in northern Maine. Take day hikes into the famed 100-Mile Wilderness/Baxter State Park or just relax on the water! Year round & pet friendly! Enjoy life the way it was!

Rustic log cabin rental on the shores of Northwest Pond/ Seboies Lake in T4R9 Maine (it's an unorganized township in the Katahdin Region of Maine). We are a set of historic sporting camps on the shore of a 2000+ acre pond where you can take a paddle around in one of our complementary canoes, swim, fish and more. Also handy to hiking in the famed "100 mile Wilderness" which is part of the Appalachian Trail. Book a whitewater rafting trip on the West Branch of the Penobscot River or hike the highest mountain in Maine- Katahdin. We have a total of three cabin rentals situated around a main lodge. Each cabin room has a twin and a full size bed in our two bedroom cabins. Bed linens are supplied as well as kitchen towels and cloths. (bring you own beach towel). Kitchen ware is supplied and they have gas ranges and gas refrigerators. We provide potable water for drinking and dishes and there are outhouse facilities (no showers- take a jump in the lake!). There is no electricity (gas lights and lanterns) so be ready to get UN-plugged, interact with your company, listen to the loons and watch the night sky!

The space: Log cabin with simple floor plan. Two partitioned bedrooms and a general living/kitchen space. Each bedroom has a single and double bed. Kitchen has sink and gas stove/oven and a small gas fridge is located on the porch. Screened in front porch over looking the water. Stone fire pits with campfire wood included. Private (composting) outhouse facilities.

Cabin is part of a set of old sporting camps from the late 1800's. We are located on Northwest Pond which is part of Seboies Lake. Guest have private cabin/private outhouse. Use of our canoes and two kayaks while at camp (we have adult sized life-jackets but you would need to supply children's sized if necessary.) We are the only cabins on Northwest Pond which is part of Maine Public Reserve Lands - (Seboies Unit).

I am typically working during guest arrival times. I leave cabin ready for your arrival and communicate where the key will be. I usually arrive late in the evenings with my partner after work and are around in the morning to check in with guest. There is a "cabin book" on the table with area/emergency info. Guest are for the most part on there own. Note that there are a total of three rentals on the same property.

We are located on the shore of Northwest Pond which is part of a larger water body - Seboies Lake (about 7 miles long). The property is part of Maine Public Reserve Lands. We are the only cabins on Northwest Pond and there are only about 12 private/seasonal cabins on Seboies Lake. We are located just east of the Chairback Range and the famed 100-mile Wilderness portion of the Appalachian Trail. The lake offers views of the Chairback Range and Katahdin (Maine's highest Mountain).

Once at camp your about 35 minute drive to the nearest anything. We are located off a multi-use trail so you ride your ATV from camp or take your bike for a ride around.

you are going into the wilderness. Cell phone reception is marginal at best. The road into camp is a dirt logging road it is passable in a two wheel drive vehicle but small cars with low clearance will need to take there time navigating rocks. It takes about 35 minutes to reach the nearest town so it's a good idea to stock up before you head in (i.e groceries).
again just to review: no electricity or running water and there are outhouse facilities.

Règlement intérieur

all cabins are non-smoking and we ask for basic graffiti/carving on buildings/trees, no harassing wildlife, no loaded firearms... you get the idea. Also, we are located on Maine Public Reserve lands which prohibits the use of fireworks.

Katie place was great, fire was ready to go:-) good signage on everything so you knew what was expected :-)) Katie had water on site :-) wonderful atmosphere :-) very private and relaxing :-) place stayed warm and toasty with the firebox going even though it was 35 degrees outside :-) beds were very comfortable and snugly:-) Gas range worked wonderfully :-) along with the gas lamps and oil lamps :-) brought you back to a peaceful place of relaxation :-) there were boats onsite to use on the beautiful lake and hiking up the old rail bed. We loved our stay at Katie and Gene's cabins SO much this summer that we planned a fall weekend in early October and included our extended family. It did not disappoint!!! Everyone loved the cabins and the location. It was so great to have all the cousins playing together outdoors with no technology to get in the way. We went for walks, canoed, fished, cooked big meals and played cards by the lamp light at night. A few of us even braved swimming in the lake. We got lucky with crisp, sunny, days and chilly nights. It was so cozy to wake up and light the wood stove in the morning to take the chill off. These are truly fabulous camps and wonderful hosts!!

Katie and as great! The cabin was clean and well appointed. The kids had a blast swimming, fishing and we all paddled to Hammer Island where we had a picnic. We will be back!

We loved staying in this charming cabin! It was set up with everything you could need and was more than we expected. Sitting on the dock at night and gazing at the expansive star filled sky was a beautiful experience. We even saw glimpses of the Aurora Borealis. The wilderness in this area is lovely. Katie and Gene have definitely done their share to preserve a magical place.

I really cant say enough about how amazing this place is! Katie and Gene are incredible hosts, very friendly and genuinely interested in ensuring their guests get the most of their holiday. The cabin is stunning. It took me right back to summer camps as a child and family trips. Seriously these cabins are the only buildings on this massive lake!!! Talk about perfect seclusion! If this place on the lake provided any more relaxation I would've died... happily I might add. The fishing was fantastic. I caught more bass in my first evening then I've caught in the last year in Louisiana. If falling asleep to the hauntingly beautiful sounds of loons, sighting Moose and Bald eagles, great fishing, canoeing, BBQing, relaxing with a book on a pristine lake and beautiful sunsets/sunrises are your thing this is your place!

We loved our stay! The description makes it very clear (and Katie also followed up to make sure we were prepared) that these are rustic cabins with composting toilets and no running water or electricity. But that's exactly what we were looking for, not to mention that the cabin was quite comfortable: a well-equipped kitchen (with propane stove and fridge and plenty of water provided for cooking/cleaning); cozy beds; propane lights in the main room and kerosene lamps in the sleeping area; and thoughtful touches like tea and oil/spices, a French press for making coffee, and puzzles and cards to pass the time. Though we didn't really need those -- we spent most of our time out on the lake, which is just gorgeous, and so appreciated access to the canoes so we could explore. It's definitely remote, but worth it, and Katie and Gene make it easy to find and to enjoy. We were the only ones there during our two night stay, which was also nice. The cabins are spaced far enough away to feel private, but we loved that it was just us and the loons.

This place was exactly what we wanted. We were a group of 6 guys wanting to get away for some fishing, hiking and beer drinking. We also wanted a place where we could play music and not be a bother to anyone. It is such a great feeling to ditch the phone, internet and tv and just laugh with the crew you are with. The cabin was well kept and had everything we needed. The lake is beautiful and warm. We really enjoyed the canoes and kayaks provide by Katie and Gene. As for Katie and Gene, you couldn't ask for better people. They were more than accomadating with us. They even brought snacks and joined us for guitars and beverages on our final night. If you have a mini van with running boards I'd advise removing them before the trip down the road. It is a bit rugged. Thanks Again !

My name is Katie and i live in northern Maine with my dog Mali and my partner Gene. We own and run a set of sporting camps in the woods of T4R9 (an unorganized territory in Maine). Gene also runs a restaurant. We love to travel but in recent years its our schedules have keep us quite busy...some of our favorite regional travel destinations are Eastport/Lubec, Maine (eastern most point in the US, fishing town, great lighthouses, etc.) the Katahdin Region in Maine (beautiful mountains, pristine lakes and rivers)....
