À propos de ce logement

Live aboard an immaculate 42 foot Catalina sail boat during your visit to the fabled Florida Keys. Located at a quiet, cozy and well protected private marina with on-shore TIKI HUT and BBQ pit. Customized adventure list of things to do! Ultralow cleaning costs compared to others.

Le logement

Northern Cross is a 42 ft Catalina located at Bluewaters Marina in Tavernier. The marina is privately owned with 19 boats many of which have permanent live-aboards providing real neighbourhood experience. You will have access to the whole boat and on-shore facilities. The TIKI hut is locally well known and hosts excellent BBQ facilities for your enjoyment. A real meeting place to share your stories at the end of the day. You will also have access to on-shore laundry/shower/washroom facilities. A very quiet and private setting where you can watch the tarpon and the occasional manatee from the cockpit. The boat has easy access with docks on both sides. There is an approx. 2.5 ft tide so you may have to step up a foot or so at high tide. The boat is fully air conditioned for your comfort. You will quickly find that the cockpit is the place to be where you can enjoy relaxing views of the harbor and all the "happenings".

Accès des voyageurs

The whole boat is yours to use. Down below are three double berths (sleeps six), a fridge, a fully equipped galley (kitchen), two washrooms (aka heads), and a main "salon".

Échanges avec les voyageurs

Our manager, Paul, lives in the boat beside Northern Cross. He will greet you on your arrival, give you a tour of the boat and answer any questions you may have during your stay. Rick or Tony (co-owners) are also available any time by phone. Prior to your arrival we will provide you with a customized manual describing details of Northern Cross.

If you are interested, speak to Paul about local activities where he can independently act as your guide - fishing, kite sailing, paddling, skiff touring, day sailing cruises (on his boat), reef snorkeling, tennis are all good bets. We don't personally profit from any bookings you make with Paul. We just want you to have a good time.

Autres remarques

Northern Cross is a cruising boat that you will be staying on while it is at the dock. You must be comfortable with steps and bending. Northern Cross is fully air conditioned. Sales tax is set by Airbnb. Our cleaning fees are very low compared to other listings. This saves you money.
Check-in/check-out times allow for Northern Cross to be thoroughly cleaned between guests. If there are no guests right before or immediately after your stay we can be flexible with these times. Contact us a couple of days before your arrival if you would like to know if we can accommodate this. This can change at short notice at either end of your stay but we will do our best to satisfy you!
Your request is for a live-aboard experience only and does not leave the dock. Northern Cross is available for escorted or captained charters for a separate add-on fee beyond your Airbnb booking. Please inquire if you are interested (mid-Nov - early June only).

If you want to experience what life on a sailboat would be like, this is a very clean and well kept boat. It is in a very quiet marina. The beds were very comfortable. It was very nice sitting on the back deck in the evenings. Would recommend staying here.

Just south of Key Largo, Northen Cross, located in Blue Waters Marina is AWESOME!! First...the boat. She is a beauty! They have kept her in amazing shape. Very clean with enough creature comforts such as air conditioning to satisfy most. Jumping into the water for a swim from the back of the boat is perfect. Rick, one of the owners is who we worked with initially is on top of it. Scheduling our stay with him was a breeze. Paul, who handled everything once we got to the marina is amazing. If we had a question, he always answered right away. So friendly and helpful. The marina is well kept and very clean. Nice and quiet with wi-fi, showers, laundry room and best of all, the Tiki Hut, complete with BBQ grill and smoker. Great place to meet the residents... The residents...OMG...just the nicest and most welcoming group of people you'll ever meet! Had the best time at The Tiki Hut! You have to get Mick to tell you how he met his lovely bride Doris...such a cute story! Carol is amazing. Luv luv luv her! Not only did they share stories, but food as well! Mick had caught a King fish and gave us a couple of King fish steaks, which we promptly grilled. So delish! Tommy and Robin had caught a Tuna that day and shared it with all...amazing sashimi AND grilled Tuna. Seriously, spend some time at the Tiki Hut...your vacation will be the better for it! I would highly recommend staying on Northern Cross. It's a fabulous way to take a step away from the hectic hustle and bustle of our stress-filled day to day lives.

Boaters are among the friendliest groups of people you will ever meet and the residents at Bluewater Marina are no exception. Your experience sounds fantastic. We are really happy to be part of the Airbnb family so we can share our treasure with other like minded people like you.

Great to see you had a great time. Was also great to hear about the hospitality you enjoyed up at the Tiki Hut where you had a chance to meet some of the live-aboard residents. You are not the first one to comment on wanting to stay on Northern Cross just a little longer. Consider this an invitation to come a stay with us again!

Absolutely wonderful stay on this beautiful sailboat in a secluded (and calm) marina. Clean, well-maintained, and with an attentive host. Could not have asked for a better location. Made it one of our better family vacations!

Glad to hear your family and a great time. Interesting you commented on how "calm" the marina is. That's a great point since many other local marinas are exposed to the wind and can be a bit wavy. I really like the seclusion part too. After a busy day, it's always great to come back to the boat, maybe swim from the back, and then enjoy some very relaxing "down time"before heading out for dinner or having a BBQ at the Tikki Hut. Even then you never know when you may see tarpon or even a manatee. I completely agree that Northern Cross is in one of the best locations in the Keys!

We really enjoyed our stay on Northern Cross - it was a really unique holiday experience and a good base for our first trip to the Keys. We spent 4 nights on board. We're used to living on boats and this is a really well equipped, comfortable boat. The marina is small and friendly with about 18 liveaboards for neighbours. There is a communal tikki hut with a gas barbeque which we used one night. The facilities in the marina are simple but more than adequate. We were met by Captain Paul who checked with us prior to our arrival. He explained where everything was and how the boat worked and then took us off on his boat (moored next door) for a sunset sail which we had booked earlier. We had a brilliant sail - although we almost missed the sunset - 3 dolphins came and played in our bow wave just as the sun was setting - how cool was that! Captain Paul also offers other trips - weather permitting - we would have done more trips with him had weather permitted (it was a bit rough for his other boat) - we can strongly recommend him. Captain Paul also gave us recommendations for places to visit which all worked well - we took the snorkel trip from John PenneKamp State Park which is close by. And we took up his recommendation for the Lorelie restaurant/beach bar - went there for lunch but it was so nice, we stayed for dinner and the stunning sunset. Also rented kayaks from there as well. I swam off the boat most days which was a real treat. We saw pelicans, ospreys, cormorants, egrets in and around the marina. There is a small beach in a State Park about a mile from the marina with tables under trees and facilities - there is a small entry charge. Even though he wasn't there in person, Richard has been an attentive host from the time of our booking, and Captain Paul was great as his on-site representative. Our thanks to Richard and Paul for a great holiday experience.

Thanks for your kind comments. Looks like you managed to fit in a week's worth of activities in only four days! Visiting the Keys is all about being on the water, so no better way to do that than to stay on a boat. We really appreciate the comments about Paul. He loves showing our guest around. It would be very easy to spend a whole week with Paul as your personal guide. I still need to go snapper fishing with him some day so I can end the day with a fish fry up at the Tikki Hut!

Very familiar with Tavernier and not able to stay at a relatives because of over crowding, I was looking for something different and cheaper. This is when I located the Northern Cross. The boat was roomy, clean and centrally located. We very much enjoyed our stay. What made our stay special was the morning swims in the boat basin off the back of the Northern Cross. Listening to and feeling the gentle rocking of late night thunder storms as we slept was also a subtle treat. Seeing manatees and tarpon when swimming. Everyone at the marina were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again. Tom from Boca

Thank Tom. There are lots of reasons why guest come to stay on Northern Cross. We have had birthdays, retirement trips, two couples getting married but I think you are the first to be celebrating a family reunion. Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. The swimming was great esp seeing manatees. They do come into the basin from time to time and it always makes for a real special occasion. Like our other guests you noticed how friendly (EMAIL HIDDEN)e back any time.

Our stay on the Northern Cross, with two children, was fantastic. Excellent communication and information from Richard, and Capt Paul, our on-site host, who lives on the boat next door, was amazing. We arrived much later than planned, and Capt Paul was still there to give us a warm welcome, talk us through living on the boat and give us excellent recommendations for things to do. Much appreciated. We enjoyed mornings and evenings on deck, overlooking the marina, swimming and watching the Tarpon roll. Facilities in the Marina are great, and if you follow the instructions for living on the boat (managing water, electric, toilets etc) then there are no problems on board. Our top tip is to mostly use the toilet in the Marina rather than the boat. Our children loved their cabins - and the wifi! Enjoy.

Glad to hear you and your family had a great time Kyla. There is something special about lounging in the cockpit and taking in all the things going on in the harbour. Not many places where your can swim right off the back of your "home". Thanks for mentioning our manager, Paul. He really knows how to take care of our guests. We checked the on the electrical problems you noted and found everything to be working normally. It was likely related to an overloaded breaker switch which can occur when both air conditioners are on at the same time and then a thIrd appliance like a kettle or toaster is turned on. Not too different from having too many things plugged into a single wall socket. Most important we got it sorted out quickly. Thanks for staying with us. We hope you're took home some golden memories of your stay aboard Northern Cross.

Rick and Tony are co-owners of Northern Cross. Die-hard sailors, we each have our own sailboat for summer sailing on Lake Ontario but head down in various combinations of family and friends to the Florida Keys whenever possible in the winter. While neither of us are there we are happy to provide accommodations for other visitors to the Keys. Like you!
