À propos de ce logement
A spacious, light-filled, comfy and very clean apartment on an unexpectedly quiet side street in Hudson -- like a private house because we're not in our downstairs apartment yet. A 6-9 minute crosstown walk (depending on whether you're strolling or NYC walking) and you're on Warren Street, the main drag where all the restaurants, shops and galleries are.
New! My exclusive Self-Guided Tours now here! (See detailed description)
Enjoy the Experience & really "travel like a local": my self-guided tours are now in the house!*
This is like your own private house, because we haven't moved into our downstairs apartment yet! You pretty much have the place to yourselves. Laugh, sing, stay up late, dance. As long as the noise is kept inside, you won't be bothering anyone. But I am 2 blocks away, so if you need me, I'm nearby. This is the full top floor of our two-family home, 1200 s.f. to spread out after a fun-filled and busy day.
Relax at the end of the day in 3 queen bedrooms with memory foam mattresses. There's a large and bright living room & separate dining room that easily seats 6, and full kitchen with everything you need to create a gourmet meal.
Our one full bath requires some coordination if you're all getting ready for an event at the same time. Our guests tell us it all works out just fine.
Light on all 4 sides, hardwood floors, and your own washer & dryer. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board, bed linens and bath towels - just bring your suitcase, toothbrush and your laptop. (We have internet, but no TV). Board games, some books and magazines, everything you need for a quiet retreat after a fun-filled day.
A few words about location: a few guests have given our house less than 5 stars for location. While we obviously can't move the house, the location is one of the things we like best about the house: near everything, but without the street noise. It's hard to be "quiet in the city" without being a little off the main drag. Gmaps places our house a 6 minutes walk from Warren St., the main street. People have commented it took them 8-10 minutes to walk it. Considering the apartment is large and usually accommodates families or larger groups, I guess it all depends on how fast you can gather your group together and walk. You can, of course, drive over to Warren, which may cut off a few minutes, but not worth the hassle of feeding meters all day while you shop, eat, browse. I find it better to take a leisurely stroll.
4 crosstown blocks to Warren Street, where all the action is: top restaurants, galleries, antiques, quirky clothiers, everything you come to Hudson for. Hop in the car for a 5-minute drive to Olana, the majestic home and studio of Hudson River artist Fredrick Church - and make sure to stop on the way at Stewart's for their award-winning Philly Vanilla ice cream. Walk or drive a few blocks to Oakdale Lake, a city-run swimming and fishing area, with a picnic area, an outdoor skatepark and basketball courts. Visit the Fireman's Museum, see the majestic Hudson River from Promenade Hill, hike the Greenport Conservancy trails, take the Hudson-Athens ferry across the Hudson River in the summer, shop for fresh and delicious local food at our Saturday morning Farmer's Market a few blocks away.
Indoors, we've supplied some board games for family togetherness: Scrabble, Rummicube, Old Maid, Candy Land. And some books and mags for when you need some alone time. Internet, of course.
Everything will be fresh & waiting for you. The back yard isn't ready for prime time yet, but we have nice chairs for the front porch, and porch-sitting is encouraged. Please note that we have wifi, but no TV, so bring your laptops, etc.
Bring your kids, but please leave your pets at home. Due to allergies, we cannot accommodate pets or smokers.

I'm local, and will be happy to meet you to give you the keys and show you around the place. I'm nearby, available via phone or text to answer any questions, offer dining and entertainment suggestions based on your preferences, and can provide you with links and info of fun things going on during your stay. Other than that, I'll try to leave you alone and in peace.
Once you've booked I'll send you current info on things to do during your stay here, and you'll have access to my guidebook, which is by no means complete. There's so much to enjoy here in Hudson. (I didn't even include the antique stores and galleries on Warren. Just walk and you'll find them.) Also, the "Kid-Friendly" label does not exclude grownups from loving it, too. I wish I could've put some of these guidebook places in more than one category. So read through all of them.
And don't forget to leave time for one or more of my self-guided tours, which will add dimension to your visit.
Just respect our house as you would your own. Please, no partiers, pets or smokers, not even in the yard. 25 years or older to rent. 2 night minimum. We've had wonderful guests in the past, and would like to add you to the list.
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 7 jours avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement à hauteur de 50 %. En cas d'annulation au cours des 7 jours précédant le voyage, la réservation est non remboursable.

I like people, lots of them at one time are okay with me...(owned a skating rink for 20 years). Also a Realtor, and am knowledgable about Hudson and Columbia County, having lived and worked in the area for many years. My Self-Guided Tours (#1: Quirky & Cheap in a Pricey Town; #2: Architectural Gems: Evolution of Neighborhoods and Buildings, plus more to come*) are in your apartment to make your Hudson experience even better.
