Description

Built in 1914, this clean and fresh cottage makes for a beautiful place to call home whilst in St. Augustine. Close to the Historic Downtown district whilst offering space and privacy in a neighborhood that's rich with it's own history and culture.

This cottage is a beautiful testimony to how we used to live. Kept to it's original size, we lovingly restored it and created a spacious feel within it's small square footage.
As you enter the cool living room, you will see the nicely proportioned master bedroom to your left. The master bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed, elegantly made up with soft and cool cotton sheets and a fresh white duvet. There is a small built-in wardrobe and a large vintage chest of drawers. Coming off of the bedroom is an office/reading room/ nursery, that boasts a beautiful bank of windows that give peeks of the world outside.
As you re-enter the living room, you will see two vintage rattan love-seats as well as an inviting lounge chair, draped in a luxurious sheepskin. Mid century modern lamps and retro decorations create a lovely little step back in time. Thanks to my husband and sons, this room also has a 34" smart TV and a music dock!
From the living room, an oversized hall leads to the lovely second bedroom. This room can be used for two adults or as a fabulous room for up to 3 kids. It contains a full bed, made up with cool crisp Ralph Lauren sheets. Over head is the single 'bunk' bed. Our guests have the option of having the single bed made available or having it 'stowed' in order to create a more open feeling. This little room also provides a little built-in wardrobe and a small chest of drawers.
Re-entering the hallway, you are met with a large glass paned door that leads to a wonderful outside deck. Here you can sit and eat dinner, have drinks with friends or have a bbq with your family. The deck gives access to the ample space that this little home enjoys and provides a fantastic place to watch the evening skies change and the birds as they fly overhead.
As you sweep back into the cottage you continue to the kitchen. This European inspired kitchen has all new appliances and is equipped for vacation style cooking. It has a sleek fridge, ample stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, kettle and all tea/coffee makings. There is also a small table and chairs which are just right for morning coffee and light eats...throw open the window for a minute and you'll feel as though you're in Europe somewhere!
From the kitchen is the access to the laundry/washroom and the bathroom and shower. Boasting a generous walk-in shower with over-head shower head and subway tiles. Lush towels and basic toiletries are included. Stored in the little sink cabinet are laundry detergent and dryer sheets, hair dryer, first aid kit, bug spray and extra paper supplies. Beach towels and chairs can also be found in this area.
We do provide all of the necessities to bbq and bikes are available upon request.

The cottage and surrounding area is for you to use. We do ask that you don't enter the airstream that is stored in the garden...thanks

The neighborhood known as Lincolnville has seen many incarnations. Comprised of some 600, mostly Victorian houses today, it bagan with just a couple of plantation homes on some tracts. Then, it was founded by freed slaves in 1866 and called Little Africa. Then it was further developed for the workforce that were hired by Henry Flagler to staff his hotel empire. Notably during the 1960's it became a pivotal seat of the Civil Rights Movement. For many years it's been a favorite with the college kids and artists and now, one of the most sought after areas to live, here in St. Augustine. Remnants of these different eras live side by side, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Our little cottage is located at the southern end of the neighborhood. It takes about 18-20 minutes to stroll into the heart of downtown St. Augustine. This cottage is best suited to people who want to be a little removed from the center of town and who relish cultural diversity. We also offer bikes free of charge upon request.

Parking is a nightmare and very expensive in the city center. We offer bikes, or suggest that you maybe park at the southern end of the Maria Sanchez lake in the residential area and walk from there, it would reduce the walk by half. There are also pedi-cabs on offer and plenty of cabs available. For those who fancy it, it really is a lovely walk into town.

This little cottage is situated next door to a house that has been in the same family for many generations. It is occupied by an elderly mother, her daughter and her son. The women are hardly ever outside but the son loves nothing more than to spend his days on the front porch and talk. He talks to the neighbors, he talks to passer-bys, he even talks to himself. He is interested in the fact that we have people come and stay here and he is not shy about saying hello!
My husband and I have been lucky enough to live in this neighborhood for 15 years. We have raised 3 boys here and we love and embrace the diversity that this neighborhood allows. We will be extremely sad when all of the local characters are living elsewhere as they are the disappearing remnants of another time and culture.
It is my utmost hope that you love staying at our cottage and so if any of the above said does not sit well with you, than we may not be the right choice.

Born in the States but raised in Britain, I find St. Augustine a great mixture of history, architecture, sunshine, lazy days and endless beach. My husband and I have traveled around the world with our three sons but always love coming home to this great city. We spend our days building and creating together and our downtime sailing, surfing or exploring the bountiful outdoors.
I have lived in St. Augustine for the large part of 22 years, always working in the service industry, or for many years, owning and operating our own water-sport rental business. We understand the needs and wishes of the discerning tourist and will do our utmost to make your stay, the best possible.
We ourselves have utilised this sort of accommodation throughout our global wanderings and find it a great way to really get to know an area, to 'try on' living there.
I look forward to meeting you!!
