This is a spacious apartment, full of character and old world charm. Originally accommodating the Vicar's servants, the apartment spreads across the second floor of The Old Vicarage. There are plenty of ancient wooden beams and panelling, and the apartment is unusual and fun.
There are two double bedrooms on either side of the hallway. One is a very good size with two single beds arranged as a superking or apart as singles; there is a desk and chair, a small sofa and plenty of storage space.
The other bedroom contains two single beds and a dressing table and chair and is the cosier bedroom. Both bedrooms have dormer windows with far reaching views over the village to the hills beyond. There are beams and sloping ceilings in the bedrooms.
Down a few stairs and you enter a large comfortable living room with high wooden beams, sofas, chairs, a TV, and a dining table with chairs for meals. Uniquely, the sitting room leads out onto your own private roof terrace, which has stunning views over the village as far as King Alfred's Tower. Here you can enjoy al fresco dining or enjoy your morning cuppa in the sun.
There is a spacious bathroom with a good power shower (no bath).
The small kitchenette is fully equipped for simple cooking.

To get to The Servants Quarters, you need to go through the main house. This works fine as the old house is large enough to cope with plenty of traffic! Once you close the door to your apartment, however, you enter a completely self-contained, private world where you can relax, be as noisy as you like and do as you please.

You can relax in the lovely old gardens of The Old Vicarage, or sunbathe by the large, outdoor swimming pool. The pool is heated with solar panels, with temperatures ranging between 20 and 26 debs. There are veg growing in the veg patch - help yourselves to lettuce or beans, raspberries and herbs or whatever is in season.
You can be as independent or interactive as you choose to be.
There are two flights of stairs to get to the Servant's Quarters on the second floor. We think it is worth it once you get there and any reasonably fit person has no problem.
The balcony should be used with caution if there are children in the party. We have installed railings to shoulder height for your safety. We provide a table and four chairs with comfortable cushions - for your relaxation.
I have three grown-up children (and two adorable grandsons) who come 'home' now and then thankfully, so that the house fills with hustle and bustle again. In between times, it seems a pity not to share all this house space with others. Andrew and I are delighted to have guests staying in our home. As for what keeps me busy - well, my proper job is teaching but I love gardening, do quite a bit of cooking, love a jaunt, am learning Bridge, enjoy entertaining and am mad about the theatre...
