Yelki by the Sea

Whether looking for a romantic getaway or simply time out to unwind, Yelki will be sure to weave its magic. This historic heritage (1835) beach front cottage seamlessly blends old and new to offer wonderfully comfortable accommodation for your exclusive use.

The cosy armchairs, wooden floors, rugs and fireplace will envelope you in their warmth, while you take in the view and ponder on thoughts of the day or lose yourself in a good book. Or sit on the veranda or lawn under the pepper tree, with a glass of wine, as you enjoy the magnificent ocean vista of Wright Island and The Bluff. The sitting room offers wide screen TV, DVD, Stereo, CD, and WiFi facilities.

You may cook in the charming very well equipped kitchen and then enjoy the meal in the breakfast room overlooking the back garden with its lovely profusion of plants, flowers and birds.

We offer self-catered or bed and breakfast accommodation (breakfast provisions provided - you prepare yourselves in your kitchen). The bed and breakfast option is an additional $30 per night per couple with a 2 night minimum/maximum. Where possible we source local Farmers Market produce.

With the sound and smell of the ocean and two comfortable bedrooms your sleep is sure to be deep and restful. The cottage is completed with a sparkling modern bathroom.

Quality linen is supplied, as are bathrobes and a decent hairdryer.

Just a few steps to the beach or pathway leading to The Bluff and on using the Heysen Trail past Petrel Cove, Kings Beach and Waitpinga cliffs; or hire a bike and follow the pathway into the town centre or along the coast to Port Elliot; further still to Goolwa and the Murray Mouth. Flagging enthusiasm could mean putting yourselves and your bikes on the Cockle train for the return trip.

Yelki by the Sea is well located, as just a short amble along the beachfront will find you at The Beach House Cafe, to enjoy delicious gourmet pizza, curry, or fish and chips, or go to the ever popular Yilki Store, where they essentially manage to offer the rest.

We loved our stay at Yelki cottage. It felt like we had stepped back in time but we still had all the modern conveniences. This picturesque location makes the ideal getaway with a secluded feel yet only a walk away from some great restaurants. The hosts, Sue & John were lovely. It's a 10/10 from us!

Sue and John made us feel so welcome, The house is comfortable with a beautiful ambiance. The weather was unseasonably cold, we managed to enjoy the wood fire every night. Thanks so much Sue and John

Gorgeous character property, spotlessly presented with all the comforts of home. Great for exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula - cliff top walks, beaches, wineries, markets, cafes, steam trains. Sue & John are warm, welcoming hosts and we will certainly return to this lovely spot. Could not ask for more.

Highly recommended. . Sue was there to welcome us to this wonderfully historic cottage. very well equipped, comfy bed(s). a couple of minutes walk to an excellent pub / wood fired pizza and coffee shops. Encounter bay was a good base to discover Fleurieu Peninsula and Mclaren Vale. We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend it.

We loved our two nights at Yelki. Sue and John were perfect hosts, very helpful and welcoming. They shared with us the history of the cottage which they've lovingly and authentically restored. The chocolates, great red wine and cookies were special touches. We enjoyed the well-equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and comfy bed with quality linen. We lit the open fire both nights and were cosy and warm. I particularly loved the garden which added to the old world charm of the cottage. Our hosts recommended the Anchorage for dinner and then Goolwa Beach Cafe for lunch (forget the name), both were excellent. We would thoroughly recommend Yelki by the Sea.

We opened in January 2013 and according to our many guests thus far this is a magical place and I am a great host who is very friendly and helpful.

Our guests have been most impressed with my attention to detail in the cottage. I know what I would want if staying in a beautiful cottage of this nature on the beach and so work hard to provide it for our guests.

Cheers ... Sue
