Centrally located in the very heart of Berlin, your vacation getaway has the best of both worlds. Ideally situated on a quiet street in the city’s popular Mitte district, your apartment is just a stone’s throw from Kreuzberg — Berlin’s bustling cultural hub. Right in front of the building is an idyllic church (Michaelkirche) and next to it is a beautiful small park with a pond (Engelbecken). There, you can enjoy a drink at the charming Café am Engelbecken while gazing out over water or, in the wintertime when the pond freezes, you can go ice-skating.
But only 5 to 10 minutes walk from your peaceful retreat is Oranienstrasse, the beating pulse of Berlin’s dynamic Kreuzberg neighbourhood.
Public transport is very convenient. And to explore the city by bicycle, which you can rent for only 5 euros a day, it will take you:
10 minutes to Alexanderplatz, where the iconic TV tower entices visitors with its epic view of the city
15 minutes to Unter den Linden, a boulevard adjacent to the Museum Island in the Spree River, and where the splendid Brandenburg Gate awaits
15 minutes to Gendarmenmarkt, a historical square with beautiful cathedrals and the Konzerthaus (highly recommended, especially after sunset)
20 minutes to Friedrichstrasse, a shopping street with luxury boutiques and the Galeries Lafayette department store
20 minutes to Hackescher Markt, an inviting area filled with small boutiques, shops and cafés
If you want to really feel the city’s pulse you just have to walk 5-10 minutes to Oranienstrasse, which is the very heart of Kreuzberg.
