The cottage sits in a clearing on 11 wooded acres, and the surrounding area offers hiking, biking, canoeing, cross country skiing, swimming, fishing, and golf. Outdoor amenities include a 20'x40' pool, gas grill, private driveway, canoe, and ski-poles & snowshoes for winter hikes.

Our housekeeper, Julie, prepares the cottage for you beforehand, ensuring that it's ready at the preset check in time, and comes to clean after your preset check out time. She does not come during your stay, however, unless there's an emergency. Upon confirmation of booking, we provide you with a code for the lockbox so that you can come and go as you please once you've arrived. Julie's number is listed for you on a contact information sheet in the cottage, should you have any concerns while you're there. The owners, Lisa & Doren, stay in their private house, located on the same property, during weekends and longer during the summer. Their number is also listed for you on the information sheet. You can also feel free to contact the cottage's booking manager, Amanda, through email or at the main contact number, both of which are provided after booking. She is located in the NYC office, available M-TH, and can answer any questions you have as well. You might see Julie, the owners, or our groundskeeper Ed around the property occasionally, but you have full privacy otherwise.
There is laundry onsite, located in a small shed beside the cottage. During the winter months, we shut it off because the shed, unlike the cottage, is not heated and the pipes freeze otherwise.
Currently, there is no wireless internet, and we've never had a guest with a necessity for one during their stay with us. However, if this is something you definitely need, please let us know and we will look into setting it up. Many of the local cafes and businesses offer wireless internet.
For long-term rentals, rates are subject to change depending upon the length of stay and number of occupants. Rates may increase during peak season and Cooperstown Hall of Fame weekend (July 24th-27th), but notice would be given, if this is the case, well in advance!
No smoking inside the cottage; outside only, please. Pets require an additional fee. Upon departure, please be sure that all trash and recyclables have been sorted and placed in the outdoor bins, away from the elements and the critters! Please also lock the door and place the keys back in the lockbox.
Our arrival and departure times are 3PM and 10AM, respectively. This gives our housekeeper, Julie, enough time to thoroughly clean before and after your stay. We are of course willing and able to make exceptions, provided they are given well in advance, and both previous bookings as well as Julie's schedule allow us to do so!
Hello and welcome to Westwood Guest Cottage's Airbnb profile! I'm the booking manager for the cottage, and your contact for any and all questions you might have before, during, and after your stay. The owners are two lovely ladies, Doren and Lisa Slade. They split their time between their home on New York City's upper west side, and their home in Unadilla, NY, located on the same property as the Guest Cottage. Both ladies work as psychoanalysts, and jointly run LD&J Associates, Inc, a psychotherapy office located in NYC. Lisa is originally from Queens, NY, and has a passion for plants and Native American jewelry. Doren hails from the upper west side of Manhattan, NY, has a deep love and knowledge for tribal Mexico, and is fluent in Spanish. Both ladies adore their dog, Xiwe (pronounced "she-way"), which means "fierce" in the Aztec language. They, with their pup in tow, are happiest when at home "in the country" and enjoy sharing the loveliness of that home with others by renting out Westwood Guest Cottage!
