El Barrio (Gothic Quarter) is located in the old town, you can walk through the history of the city, it is one of the four neighborhoods that make up the Ciutat Vella district of Barcelona.
The Gothic Quarter is the oldest part of the city and its historic center. The cardus and the Roman decumanus are the axes of historical development of the neighborhood in its top, the old Monte Taber (Plaza de San Jaime).
In turn, it consists of different neighborhoods that retain their own personality: the Jewish Quarter "Call" Santos Justo and Pastor, Santa Maria del Pino, the Cathedral, Santa Ana, La Merced, Santa Maria de Mar and the Palace.
The structure of the neighborhood remained intact until the nineteenth century, a period that brought major changes in the structure and morphology of the same, such as the transformation of parish cemeteries in public places, emptying of large buildings with the consequent change of use or demolition of the Roman walls.
Currently pieces of the first wall are preserved in the Plaza de la Seo, opposite the Cathedral of Barcelona.
Ataúlfo street there is a Gothic chapel that belonged to the Royal Palace Minor of Barcelona and is known for the palace chapel.
The Temple of Augustus Barcelona was a Roman temple dedicated to the imperial cult of Caesar Augustus built in Barcino colony founded with the permission of Augustus, which would over time the city of Barcelona. It was the middle of the Forum on the summit of Mount Taber, currently located in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter. He collapsed with the passage of time and the late nineteenth century, three columns were found during the construction of the headquarters of the Ramblers Centre of Catalonia. A fourth was exposed in the Plaza del Rey in Barcelona and was incorporated into the set that you can visit. It is likely that the construction of the temple began in time of Tiberius, who first instituted the cult of Augustus.
In the same core of the neighborhood is El Born, (El Born). Despite its humble beginnings as a settlement built on a medieval fair place for celebrations, Born has grown into one of the most modern parts of the city.
During the day the cafes are packed and at night people go to Passeig de Born, according to local fair site, to test different bars that serve some good mojitos.
However, the Born is not only nightlife; there are also a lot of culture to see. On the Street Montcada, in the ancient medieval street, the Picasso Museum and the Textile Museum, which in turn has a small cafe with terrace are located. The Textile Museum is here because, at the beginning, the Born housed the textile guilds of Barcelona. Also in this neighborhood there is a beautiful church you can go.
Today, it attracts people to visit the Born by the number of shops, including boutiques and shoe stores magnificent but expensive, great for finding a dream piece. Some of the most modern stores such as Brazilian company Colcci have chosen Born as their home.
El Born is between Via Laietana and Barceloneta and has a good shuttle service with stops Barceloneta and Jaume I metro on the same line. However, Las Ramblas and the city center you can walk in just 10 minutes.
The beach is also about a 10 minute walk, which means you can enjoy a holiday on the beach and rest of the city at the same time. In addition, the Born is quite close to Ciutadella Park: a quiet place to relax one afternoon and watch the hippies play their bongos place. Barcelona Zoo is also located in the Parque de la Ciutadella.
It is a picturesque and cultural part of Barcelona which has many cafes and bars full of life.

Rent a nice room located in the Gothic quarter in Barcelona.
The room is in a large and bright apartment, with fully equipped modern kitchen and bathroom. It's all in order. You will share the bathroom with me, will also have its own space in the kitchen (fridge and kitchen cupboard) and bathroom.
The apartment has an elevator. Internet (Wi-Fi) for free, have free use of 1 washer for more than 5 nights stay. If you have car there is parking in the area. I live on the floor and would be happy to recommend places to visit, restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, cultural attractions, Etc.
The apartment is located in the Gothic Quarter, 100 meters from the Cathedral, 10 minutes walk from Plaza de Catalunya and 15 minutes walk to the beach., In the area you will find restaurants, bars, terraces and in front of the apartment is the Santa Catalina market, 10 minutes walk from Portal de l'Angel, the main shopping street, 10 minutes from the Ramblas stations nearest underground stations are Urquinaona and Jaume I, yellow line. The neighborhood is lovely, with lots of small shops (organic food, fashion shops, wineries, period decor). There are also good restaurants and bars and terraces (in the summer). The neighborhood atmosphere is very cozy.
From the airport of El Prat, the best way to reach the center of the city is taking the "Aerobus" to Plaza de Catalunya, since there are 10 'walk. From the airport of Girona, you can take a bus to Barcelona (Estació del Nord) since there are 15 minutes walk from the apartment, arriving by train, for example, station France you can walk to the residence, apartment located a 10 minute walk.
