Affordable in excellent Logan Sq location
Cozy, beautiful, unique and rustic, this apartment overlooks and English style park in Logan Square. This apartment is not for everyone. Although it is beautiful, cozy, with comfortable beds, couches, etc - it is NOT a modern building...those with cat allergies, or who are very sensitive to the normal degree of dust in Victorian buildings will likely not be happy here. That said, it is a beautiful old greystone built in 1871, with an interesting history and a lot of character. If you have interest in older architecture, provided you do not have serious cat allergies you will likely feel right at home. It's a great combo of vintage and new - especially on the 3rd floor, which is a little more updated. (Also the cat rarely goes up there. If that appeals to you more, see Palmer Oasis.)
Special rates can be arranged for traveling musicians.
It's close to all the great restaurants and bars in the area, but since it's right on the park it's quiet and residential as well. There is an adorable and well behaved cat who also lives here and holds down the fort when I am not around, Peter Silo.
The beds are all full size, and the sheets and blankets are top notch and comfortable. The whole apartment can accommodate up to 6 fairly comfortably- 2 bedrooms with full size beds in each, (one also with a thick, new, comfortable full size futon!) a hideaway bed which can sleep 2, and a very comfortable couch can be used for sleeping on as well. One mattress is extra firm (beautyrest) the other is also very firm, but with a pillowtop, and although is considered higher quality, all bodies are different and rest best in different conditions. Both are very comfortable, but one may better suit some better than others, so if mattress type is a concern, please let me know and I can make suggestions.
There is also a room upstairs which is a little bigger, with a private bathroom. Check out Palmer Oasis.
If you want both rooms, you must book both rooms (bedrooms 1 and 2) or OK it with me. You will not be assured that you have the entire apartment to yourself unless both bedrooms are booked, especially weekends during summer months (although it's possible it could just work out that way in the Spring, Winter, or Fall, or on weekdays.)
If you would like breakfast to be included, that can also be arranged.
It's close (4 blocks) to the California stop on the blue line, which offers easy access to O'Hare as well as and downtown.
Long term discounts are definitely available. If you will be in Chicago from November-March or April and would like to book the treehouse, please message me for special rates.
I will be available by text message once you have made a booking. If you have a foreign phone number, you can find me on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN).
Logan sq has some of the best cuisine in Chicago, some would say the country! So if you are into eating like that, you will never have to leave the neighborhood.
It's also easy to rent bikes in Logan square, if you'd like to travel in a leisurely way around the neighborhood and city.
I am 4 blocks west of the California stop on the blue line, which is the train line that services O'hare.
Peter the cat lives in the treehouse, and comes upstairs to visit on occasion. I will come in to feed and care for him for a few mins each day, unless you would rather do it and not be disturbed. If you'd rather I do not enter the apartment at all during your stay, please let me know and I will tell you where the cat food is.
As a precaution, you must present valid picture id when you come to stay. The name must match your name on airbnb, as well as that of your verifications that you have given airbnb. I do not accept requests without verifications.
Thanks for understanding.
I have been hosting for airbnb for a good few years now, and I love meeting people and making them feel at home at my place. Chicago is my hometown, and as much as I love to travel - Europe and the southwestern US are the most frequent places I go - nothing really compares to the down to earth yet often cosmopolitan culture we have here. I love sharing my city with other interesting/interested travelers.
Attention concert/music festival goers! While I very much support and appreciate the appreciation of music, this is not a good match for hard core drinkers/partiers. It's not a come-stay-get-waisted-trash-it kind of deal. If you are coming in town for an event (of any kind, really) you will be expected to leave the place as you found it, not be disrespectful or disruptive of other guests, the neighbors, OR the space.
