The room was tidy. The host' friend, Tiff, is very nice. She is a tourist guide and can speak English very well. There are a public washing machine and public fridge. The place is also closed to convenient stores such as 7-11, Hi-Life, and Brown Coffee. The location is very closed to Daqiao Tou MRT station. Basically, you can get around Taipei easily. You may need to communicate with the host in advance. For example, in my case, I was check in late on Aug. 25 (around 8:00 PM), and Tiff was not at home. She has tried many efforts to help me check-in. Luckily, there is 7-11 convenient store to stay and wait for the keys. This is just a minor case. Overall, I suggest you to stay in Chi-Kang's room for your trip to Taipei.

It's just fine if you are only looking for inexpensive accomodation. It's clean and provides for basic needs. But there is not a lot of hosting going on there. When I arrived I found out that the host, who had presented himself as a young artist eager to interact with guests, wasn't even there. He was off on an extended stay in mainland China. Instead, I was greeted by a friend of his, Tiffany, who was minding the place for him. She has some pretty good English, showed me where everything was, and chatted plesantly with me for a short while. She had also stayed up for my quite late, half-past-midnight arrival. But, as she told me, she was not going to be around for the rest of my four-night stay. I was left to share the apartment with two young Chinese men who I virtually never saw and who spoke no English in any case. It was a little lonely. So much for the host that wanted to interact with his guests. Also, the facilities are very basic. The mattress is comfortable enough but it is a piece of foam. The shower is a square (meter by meter) tub with a shower curtain hanging from a string, and offering only room-temperature water. The toilet, while clean, looks a little grungy down below, and the seat is not centered over the bowl. So, to sum up, if you are mainly concerned about cost, and you don't care that much about companionship or the nicities of your accomodation, then this is the place for you.
