★ Area is both close to Kyoto University about a 5min bike ride (15 minute walk) to the North. This areas have a number of bars and restaurants at reasonable prices to explore of a daytime or an evening.
★ There are plenty of small shops to be explored too in the local neighbourhood - A takoyaki restaurant, an old sushi shop, an organic goods shop and a local greengrocer, to name a few.
★ A 24 hour convenience store is 5 mins walk away, and 2 supermarkets are available to the south-east. Or try the local sento "Heian no Yu" if you're feeling brave and don't mind getting naked in a public bath!
★ We'll be updating the neighborhood sections (near the bottom!) of the following listings regularly so please check them:
The number 206 bus goes straight from Kyoto Station to "Kumano Jinja-Mae", which will be your nearest stop.
The 203 bus takes you to downtown (Shijo) in about 15 minutes.
Detailed bus information can be found on booking.
A taxi from Kyoto Station should also not be too expensive, less than 2500 yen.
2 bikes are available to guests to use during their stay!
Some easy to access sites include:
★ 5 min walk to Heian Jingu (and its iconic 18m tall red gate and garden with a wooden bridge over a large koi pond... the host's personal favorite)
★ Traditional Shinnyodo and Yoshida Temples on the hill just to the East
★ 12 mins walk to Nanzenji
★ 20 mins walk to Ginkakuji
★ The famous "Philosophers Path" that connects the above two. This path runs along an old canal (built in the Meiji Restoration era to help revitalize the economy) lined by hundreds of cherry trees, where you can find a large selection of cafes, restaurants and boutiques
★ Accessibility to the rest of the rest of the city is excellent. There are buses that go throughout the city from the main road to the south, and there are two bikes available for guest use.
I'm pretty relaxed, but I do ask a few important things:
- Please don't smoke inside.
(There is a pocket ashtray and lighter available if you'd like to smoke outside, but please put the ash in the ashtray and return it afterwards!)
- Please be respectful to the neighbours. Primarily, don't make noise outside after 10 PM.
- Please clean up after yourself.
- Please ensure the bikes are put back in their place. They are placed there as no-one lives in the house they are placed in front of (the one on the opposite side to the apartment, closest to the street).
Si vous annulez jusqu'à 7 jours avant le voyage, vous recevez un remboursement à hauteur de 50 % et les frais de service vous sont remboursés intégralement.

I am a Freelance Programmer (mobile, games) working and Living in Kyoto. I develop applications for a number of clients as well as ideas of my own. All the profits of what I do with my Airbnb's go back into making software, which I hope makes everyones life a little better. Ask me for my portfolio by message if you are interested in this more (I can't put it here due to Draconian no external URL policies)
My places are very open and I wish for you to make yourself at home. I am fairly hands-off with my 2 current places (check-ins are self-service, with all instructions very detailed and built up over a couple of years), but I will do my best to make sure that you have a comfortable, clean and pleasant place to stay in Kyoto!
