À propos de ce logement
Our large family house was build in 1880 and has a lot of character. It's situated on the canal and a few min. walk to the buzz of the city center of Haarlem with its medieval square. You can reach the beach within 25 m on a bicycle. And do visit Amsterdam, the train will get you there in 15 m.
The room is small but there is everything you'll need for a peaceful sleep.
We love the sharing part of Airbnb and the curious travellers it attracts.
So lets get to know each other.
The room is fresh and light. There is a wardrobe, a small table and an antique sink and mirror in the room. The brand new bathroom is just two steps away. You'll share this bathroom with the loft room, my other listing.
There is a fresh stack of towels for you there. The faint sounds of the bells of the cathedrals give a fairytale like feeling in the morning. During your stay my house is your house. So, please feel free to use the rest of the house. When you stay in this this room with two people and want to stay a week or longer, its more convenient to book the loftroom. (that's the other room I have) The loft room is almost twice the size and more convenient for a longer stay :-)

You can park your car next to the house with the visitors licence I have. There is no charge for that. And when your car isn't too large it may even fit behind mine in the garage.
There is a gardendoor on the side of the house and there is a key to the backdoor so you can come and go as you please.

I live in this house with my 2 daughters and often work at home. I am a gold and silversmith in the making and if you want we can plan a workshop so you can make your own silver ring or earrings.
I try to be at home on your time of arrival to show you where your room is and where to find the basic stuff. Please let me know in advance at what time I can expect you.
My street is quite a classy street. The house I live in, was among the first houses to be build on this side of the canal. The City theatre is at the other side of the canal. There is lots to explore in this historic city. The very low crime rate and high income situation around Haarlem makes it a very popular place to live. There are tons of restaurants and bars. And then there is shopping... Haarlem won the award for 'best shopping city in the Netherlands' about 9 times in a row... Go explore :-) The main shoppingstreet (Grote Houtstraat) is just a 3 min. walk.
Most of the places to explore in Haarlem are located around the main square, within a few minutes walking. When you want to go to Amsterdam is best to go by public transport. Use the app '9292' for the best connections and traveltimes. The train will get you there in 15 minutes.
You can rent a bike to go to the beach and there are boats for rent right in front of our house. I'll will be there to help you out with directions if you want. When you want to take public transport from schiphol airport to my home, its best to take the red bus 300 to Haarlem and get out at Botermarkt. Then its just a 8 min walk.
In the morning I take pride in fixing your breakfast and will charge a modest fee for that. Since we are very close to the city center, you can also have breakfast outdoors.
And unfortunately local government makes me register everybody who stays in my home and charge 3,25 tourist tax a person a day :-(
Please do feel at home. I started hosting in the summer of 2015 and had people treat my home as if it were theirs. I've met quite a lot of people from all over the world, shared stories and meals. I believe I made a few friends too and never had a bad experience so far. Let's have a great time!

My curiosity brought me to signup here. I have travelled the globe for several years but I'm very happy to be back in the city of Haarlem where my family has lived for more than 600 years. I love to tell you stories about this city and point out the places to visit. I really like the explorative type of people, from outside of the Netherlands, that Airbnb attracts.
Airbnb is about getting to know each other and that is the coolest part of being a host ;-) I am a goldsmith in the making. If you want I can provide a workshop in making your own ring or earrings :-) Please let me know so I can buy enough material to work with.
