Description

A cosy, bright and spacious flat on the top floor of a traditional urban Syros House, just 15mins on foot from both the city center & the sea. The apartment is situated in a quiet residential neighborhood of Hermoupolis Syros.

A cosy, bright and spacious flat, on the top floor of a traditional urban Syros House, just 15mins on foot from both the city center & Vaporia neighbourhood.

Lots of hard work and love was placed here by the owner, who constructed almost everything - from wall insulation (Knauf thermo-cell) to kitchen cabinet construction and plastering!

Great view of the neighbourhood, part of the Ermoupolis port, the Anastasis Hill and the majestic Cypress in the small garden that belongs to the House.

You are welcome to use the whole apartment & balcony except from the terrace.
Long term guests should keep in mind that the owner may wish to access the terrace for emergency maintenance work etc.

Lydia or a member of the family will meet, greet and give you the apartment keys upon your arrival, at a designated meeting spot, as well as share with you info on the house, Ermoupolis and the island of Syros in general!
We will meet you again just before you leave to return the keys, hear your impressions & wish you a pleasant trip back home.

The apartment is situated at the Orthodox hill of the 'Anastasis' and lies at the intersection of three different neighbourhoods of Hermoupolis: 'Pigada', 'Three Hierarches' and 'Vrontado'....all three have a history to be discovered....
There is a variety of walks, one can choose from, near & around the house:
- St.Nicholas church, Vaporia & Apollonos Street: with fine examples of neoclassical arhitecture and beauty. Just 3-5 minutes on foot.
- The sea platforms of Vaporia & St.Nicholas: where you can swim, eat at Vaporia restaurant or have a drink at Asteria beach bar. Only 5-10' away.
- The orthodox hill of 'the Anastasis' and the Anastasis Church: it is the top of the right hand hill you see when you approach the island by boat. You can visit the church and enjoy the view over the port is just a 15minute climb up the hill through typical urban neigbourhoods of Ermoupolis.
- St.Dimitrios church: the edge of the city. The scenery becomes a bit rugged yet green and with great views of nearby islands Andros, Tinos, Mukonos and the nearby islet of ancient Didimi (gaidaros). A fantastic 20-30' early morning stroll and jogging/running route (about 1,5-2km distance from the house).
- The windy narrow neighborhoods of Doxa & Deili: near the Anastasis church, 20-30' on foot.
- Kyveli Institute: dedicated to the actress Kyveli. Seminars, lectures & talks just 4' from the house

In the neighborhood.......
There are two small local shops (Kolonaki & Giorgos) nearby where you can get fresh vegetables and fruits. All supermarkets in and around the city center deliver your shopping at home.

The apartment is situated on the corner of Soumerli 23 & Aristeidou Street.
Apartment coordinates : "E

Aristeidou str. is pedestrianised with broad steps and is vertical to Socratous str (main road 100m above the house).

If you wish to access the apartment by car, you need to get to Socratous street either via the center of Ermoupolis or Lalakia.
Route 1 - via the city center - streets to follow: Akti Papagou, El Venizelou str. past the town hall, Merkouri str. past St.Nicholas church, Mpampagiotou Str. past Vaporia, Mavrokordatou Str till you see the parking of Doxa on your riht hand side, turn left & climb up Archimidous Str., continue left on Alkiviadou Str. , continue on Socratous Str, after you go past 'Kolonaki' convenience market (on your right hand side) prepare to find a parking spot as Aristeidou is ical to Socratous street just 500m from 'Kolonaki'.
Route 2 - via Lalakia - follow Akti Papagou towards the shipyards, turn right on Andrea Papandreou str. & continue straight till reach the intersection with Andrea Karga str, turn right & immediately left, go up Athanasiou Diakou Str, Char.Trikoupi street, Acropoleos, Deinocratous & finally the turn with the water tank from where Socratous str starts. Aristeidou str is 500m from the water tank turn.

If you are using a Taxi, ask the driver to take you to the area of Three Hierarchs (tris Ierarches) - Vrontado. He needs to find Socratous street, just above 'Kolonaki' market & below the water tank at the turn of 'Baroumi'. He should let you disembark exactly at the corner of Socratous & Aristeidou street.

Taxi rides within the city cost 4-5 euros. Always ask for a receipt.

If you are using your own car to move around the city, take some time to check the summertime traffic control adjustments:

If you are using the Local free mini bus, take mini bus Downtown Agora - Vrontado & stop at 'Kolonaki' or the turn of 'Mparoumi' ('Baroumi') which is the water tank in Socratous street.

Meet & greet point : Socratous & Aristeidou Street - We will meet you there, give you the house keys and show you around the house.

Goodbye point: the apartment just before you leave - we will meet you to receive the keys back and hear about your experience.

One thing you should keep in mind when in Syros is that tap water is not of great quality. You can either buy bottled water (3,50 euros for 6) or use the container with the tap in the kitchen to get water from the automatic water dispenser unit (0,20cents for 15liters) in the parking of 'Doxa' 1km above St.Nicholas church.

Please keep in mind that this is a private property that offers hospitality through Airbnb and abides to Airbnb guides of conduct. It is not a touristic accomodation. The premises are approved by the GR ministry of tourism (EOT).
According to the Greek rental legislation & tax system, you will be asked to sign a short term house rental contract in your language and greek (a copy will be given to you upon request). I will also need a copy of your passport / ID.
