Veronique had made this space her home for several years and the functionality of the apartment shows it. It was easy for my daughter and me to live here. First it is a few minutes from Canyon Lev (Chadash) a major shopping center with a grocery having
rows of foods like I would expect in a moderate US grocery, a laundry, a pharmacy, a bookstore an electronics store, a post office, an ATM and much more and several restaurants. It is also a major distribution point for the local bus system and taxis. It is cheerfully located next to a school perhaps K-mid school and not far from a number of parks at least one with a water falls and huge artistic chairs for giant sized people. The large sliding living room window was host to a friendly cooling breeze which for us was very welcoming. Now with little of her personal belongings, what she left included a complete bound set of the pentatuch,
prophets and writings of the old testament in Hebrew, and dozens of school children's books in Hebrew at least two with vowels. The two separate bedrooms have doors that work well and fans that can blow over or near the beds provided, allowing us not to be concerned with the lack of air conditioning when we slept. One bedroom had a table the other a small stand and both had chairs. The bathroom was the best of three I now have stayed at in Karmiel with full tub and shower and no buttons to push for hot
water, as was the entire apartment. Notable is that the kitchen is furnished with two sets of dishes for which as her second tenant no written set of rules were available but instead mostly plastic ware was used. The refrigerator/freezer is ample and does not serve as storage for Veronique. The gas stove lights electronically by the push of a button and the turning of a knob. The hostess was warm, friendly and very welcoming making it extremely easy for us to arrive and treated us in a special way perhaps because most stores would not be available for us to shop in that night and for the next day due to the Sabbath closings. Midweek the hostess
brought us a fresh set of towels and checked on our progress. The Wi-Fi service was more than adequate and was very helpful in making train and bus connections. To get to the apartment one had to climb about a dozen stairs and the few neighbors were friendly. The hostess has lots of energy and we were grateful for uplifting conversation, her accommodation, and the happy safe ambiance.
