Description
Description

1940s cozy hideaway on a 1/2 acre of wooded beauty in small village between two award-winning wine regions, near the California gold country. Bricked outdoor patio among granite boulders. Nature trail leading to seasonal river with picnic area.

Spacious bedroom, queen. Smaller bedroom looking out onto forest, twin. Daybed/trundle, making into two twins in cheerful living area. One bathroom with combination tub/shower. Separate laundry room area. Warm and inviting mahogany furnishings. Library of books and games. Fully-equipped kitchen. Vintage, cast-iron, wood-burning stove. Bathrobes, hairdryer, and amenities for comfort. Outdoor campfire and barbecue. Garden area of fruit trees and vegetables.

Spacious cupboards and closets. Home open to full use except for basement.

Owners live on the adjoining acreage in a timber-frame home and are available if any information is needed about the area or if concerns about lodging need addressing.

Small-town ambiance. One general store. Unique Gallery M with fine jewelry, paintings, and metal art. Recreational park near the Town Hall. Town Center with rest area and kiosk featuring local history and information about the nearby attractions of the wine and gold country. CDF emergency services within a quarter mile.

Dining close at Katie's home-style cooking, Chance's old-west dining, the Fairplay Pub, and oven-baked pizza at Charles Mitchell Winery as well as the award-winning Taste Restaurant, Vintage Market, and Amador Brewing Company in Plymouth. Within minutes--60 wineries, Alpaca Ranch and flower farms. Miles of rural back roads to explore. Historic gold-rush towns nearby featuring antiques, museums, shops, restaurants, theatrical productions. Easy drive to three caverns, Indian Grinding Rock State Historic Park, gold mine tours, and gold-panning. Skiing a little more than an hour away. San Francisco, 2 hours; Lake Tahoe, 2 hours; Yosemite, 3 hours.

River Pine Haven accommodates five (one queen, one twin, trundle) and is most comfortable for a couple, a couple with a small family, or perhaps a few friends enjoying time together. Lodging is roomy, but not abundant with private sleeping areas, and one bathroom also creates a dynamic to consider with more than two or three guests.

Shirley

My husband and I have been married for almost fifty years and have enjoyed watching our careers grow together (his in engineering; mine in biology, writing, and teaching) and interacting with an expanded family of two great sons, five wonderful grandchildren, and two lovely daughter-in-laws. We've traveled to many destinations--Mexico, Europe, Egypt, British Isles, Bahamas, Cortes Island--and have always appreciated lodging in places other than chain motels or hotels. Staying in a home, such as we are now offering, captures the spirit of the area and deepens the travel experience. My motto in life is to live in authenticity and delight and appreciate every moment for whatever it brings and for whatever I can bring to it.
