A large, open concept, bright and recently renovated basement apartment consisting of a kitchen area, lounge area and a double sized bed with a memory foam mattress, a small dresser and an armoire.
The kitchen has a mini fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee makers (electric, French press and drip), electric kettle and hot pot. There is also a cafe table and chairs.
The lounge area has a humongous desk containing a large selection of local travel info, an easy chair, a coffee table and a couch that converts into a single bed. There is a tv with a digial convertor box (about 20 or so channels) and a dvd played with a small selection of dvds. There is also free wifi.
The bathroom has a large shower and vanity, and of course, a toilet.
The entire space is private, has a private entrance, and is not cluttered with other peoples possessions.
Can't be beat for access to downtown Portland, the Oregon Convention Center, and the eastside Belmont and Hawthorne neighborhoods. Portland's 28th street restaurant row is right around the corner, and three blocks away there is a Whole Foods and a very cool second run movie theater.
I allow dogs on a case by case basis. Please contact me first before booking if you're traveling with a dog. There is a small cleaning fee.
The number 19, 20, and 12 bus lines are all close by and will take you downtown and to the airport. If you are driving there is always on street parking nearby. There is an Enterprise car rental lot on Sandy approximately three blocks away and six zipcars within a mile.
No smoking of any kind is allowed in the apartment or on the premises. The entry door to the apartment has an electronic combination lock. I'll give you the combination before you arrive. Please make sure the door is locked before you leave and after you enter the house.
Dan's place was perfect for our stay. It's clean, safe, and located in a convenient neighborhood with options for food and drink within walking distance. The apartment is cozy and comfortable, offering a similar feel to visiting and staying at a relative's home. My 6'4" tall boyfriend bumped his head a couple of times on the low middle ceiling, but it wasn't a big deal. The place has everything we needed to make a good trip and we were very happy there. Dan is a good host and provided easy to follow directions and solid communication for everything we needed too.
Very clean and comfortable studio in a great neighborhood. The keyless entry system really made checking-in a breeze.
The place is in a great location and the room was everything that was expected. With a bike you can get anywhere easily and safely.
The only downside if you are in the 6ft2 range you will hit your head on a portion of the ceiling.
Dans place was fantastic. Very clean and has most of the tools you'll need to eat at home (plates, cutlery, cups). It also has easy private access via a pin code security lock.
The neighborhood is really laid back and has plenty of food and drink options a short stroll away.
My boyfriend and I had a great time in Portland! Dan's place was perfect; tidy, comfy bed and within walking distance from fun places. We'd definitely stay there again, thanks Dan!
This was the perfect place to stay for me and my boyfriend. Dan was extremely welcoming, and even let us check in early when our plane arrived at 6am. He provided a plethora of pamphlets and suggestions for things to do in the area and around Oregon. The place is very private with its own entrance to the back side of the house. We didn't stay at the house much except to sleep as we were out exploring most of the time, but the place has a small kitchen and dining area, and a great living room - very roomy. We were very pleased with our experience and would go back to this apartment in the future!
Super cozy place, we loved it. And Dan is exceptionally nice and welcoming. Definitely recommended for short stays in Portland - especially for those who plan to dine out most nights. The little kitchenette is great for storing snacks and light breakfasts, and making coffee. Close to Whole Foods and cool cafes and bars -- Kern's Kitchen and Pambiche (Cuban) are 2 great restaurants right around the corner.

I'm originally from Chicago and have lived in Portland for about eight years. I've always had a passion for travel and have been lucky enough to visit about 40 countries, most recently Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan. Closer to home, funky, big city neighborhoods are my favorite places to explore. The natural beauty and mild climate are what drew me to the Pacific NW, but I return often to Chicago where I maintain business interests.
