  • We spent three days in Portland and Dan's place was perfect for what we needed. It was clean, private, roomy, and the location was convenient for access to transportation around Portland. Dan left us thorough recommendations for dining, shopping, parks, transport, and was a generally fantastic host. We will definitely be staying with Dan should we find ourselves in Portland again.

  • if you're looking for a clean, spacious, affordable, private apartment in portland's mellower east side. this is the spot! dan was very responsive to communications and easy to coordinate with.

  • Dan's apartment is in a great location, large and comfortable, with your own bath, kitchenette area with microwave, fridge, TV/DVD, lots of helpful guides to Portland and the immediate neighborhood. Spacious for the two of us and our mid-sized dog. A park is less than a block away, and any number of affordable and diverse food and drink options within easy walking, including a Whole Foods Market and the Laurelhurst movie theater/pub, where movies are just four bucks. The neighborhood is safe and beautiful, full of giant trees and historic homes. We stayed 2 nights, parked the car and took the bus or walked everywhere. Private entrance is through the backyard, where you'll be greeted by four friendly chickens. Be careful they don't follow you out the gate, because they'll try!

  • Great stay at Dan's basement apartment! Excellent value given the amount of space you get here. Dan provided a ton of information on the area and was very helpful whenever I had questions. I really enjoyed the few conversations we had during my stay. Street parking was plentiful and never an issue. Whole Foods a few blocks away was a nice bonus. I would definitely stay here again on any future visits to the Portland area.

  • My wife and I had a wonderful time in Portland, partly due to where we were staying. Dan was a great host and the apartment was extremely comfortable to stay in. The bed was great and we both slept very well. We would highly recommend staying here as it is in a great location (only a few miles from downtown) and feels very homey in a way that a hotel room does not.

  • Dan was incredibly welcoming and helpful, and his place was perfect. The room was very spacious and had everything you could need. The neighborhood was also great, with lots of restaurants within a few minutes walk, and super easy to get to other parts of the city. I would absolutely stay here again! Thanks, Dan!

  • Dan's place was a perfect location for us, a nice neighborhood within walking distance to several shops and restaurants. Despite being out of town, Dan took care of everything, answered questions, and solved problems right away. We will not hesitate to book again with Dan.

  • Dan's apartment was a perfect place to stay on our trip to Portland. It was close enough to downtown to explore the more touristy areas, very convenient if you are taking public transit, and we loved the neighborhood as well! Dan was away during our stay but stayed in contact throughout and was quick to solve any problems and answer any questions we had. We also made friends with the backyard chickens :) Thanks for having us!

I'm originally from Chicago and have lived in Portland for about seven years. I've always had a passion for travel and have been lucky enough to visit about 40 countries, most recently Vietnam, Cambodia and Taiwan. Closer to home, funky, big city neighborhoods are my favorite places to explore. The natural beauty and mild climate are what drew me to the Pacific NW, but I return often to Chicago where I maintain business interests. I'm in property management and also a co-owner of a laundromat.
