Description

Le logement

The upper floor has its own private bathroom and shower with a bedroom and additional work/office room which sometimes can double as a 2nd bedroom if there are more than 2 guests staying here. Very private and quiet. The bedroom can be configured with a single bed or a double for a couple or 2 single beds with a night table in between. We provide all the linens and towels and they are all washed and dryed on the premises. We give special care to the laundering of all the linens and towels that are used.

Guests can log on to the high speed secure WIFI, and have use of the clothes washer and dryer. There is also a filtered drinking water system in the kitchen so no more shlepping of plastic water bottles from the supermarket. The shared kitchen is kosher and guests can use it within the guidelines of Kashrut, which will be explained if necessary. From both inside and out, the views here are absolutely spectacular! Inside from the dining room is a glass atrium overlooking the Knesset and all of Rechavia. It's quite beautiful. On the outside mirpeset you have about a 360 degree view which in the mornings you can sit out there and watch the sunrise in the East and later in the day watch the sunset in the West.

I look forward to making your stay in Israel, a safe and pleasant experience.

Le quartier

Staying here puts you close to everything such as The Machane Yehuda Shuk (5 min walk) which during the day is a fruit/vegetable market filled with restaurants, shopping, and thousands of people who visit daily, at night it transforms to a hip, high energy nightlife of bars, restaurants, live bands, music and happenings. The Famous Ben Yehuda Street (6 min walk) with all the shopping, coffee shops, restaurants, events and lots of action. Gan Sacher Park (3 min walk) has playgrounds for the kids and outdoor exercise equipment for adults and a trail for jogging, riding bikes or just walking. LIGHT RAIL TRAIN (6 min walk) Hop onto the Light Rail and be in The Old City in just a few stops or go in the opposite direction and you're at The Central Bus Station. The Old City Jaffa Gate (20 min walk) Walk down Ben Yehuda St to Jaffa St and make a right turn and you'll be at the Old City. From Jaffa Gate walk about another 7 mins and you'll be at The KOTEL. Kraft Stadium (7 min walk). Central Bus Station (6 min walk). There are over 100 Shuls in Nachlaot alone, so whenever you need to pray you'll be able to find a place. 60 seconds from my front door and you'll be in a Shul.

Transports

Just up the block towards the park are the 7 & 7A bus stop and in the opposite direction towards Ben Yehuda St and King George you have all the major bus stops. You can also hail a taxi right outside or call to have a pick up.

If you have a car, there is FREE parking right in front of my home from
8pm - 7am, On Shabbat you can park from Friday afternoon - Sunday until 7am. And on Weekdays from 7am-8pm there is metered or private paid parking lots 4 min walk. Cinema City has FREE indoor parking but it's an 11 min walk.

Autres remarques

I had a wonderful time spending 6 nights at Zerach's home. I recommend this place for anyone who wants to "live" the religious Jewish experience as I did. Zerach is a host who immediately made me feel welcome. He made reservations for me to explore the tunnel at the Western Wall which I recommend highly. I loved going to his Shul on Shabbat, followed by a delicious Sabbath dinner at his house with many of his friends and fellow worshipers. Zerach also took me to someone else's house for another very enjoyable and interaction with many other guests. I had the entire second floor of his home for myself. Since I did a lot of walking in Jerusalem, it was nice to come back to a friendly face. Zerach's home is centrally located to many places I wanted to visit in Jerusalem, including the Western Wall. I am really glad I bought comfortable shoes with me, as I walked at least five miles a day. I will never forget "Living as an observant Jew" at Zerach's home. I really wanted to embrace the full lifestyle and religious experience while in Jerusalem, and I got what I wanted :') In one of my favorite songs by Mick Jagger, he sang: "You don't always get what you want, but if you try some time, you get what you need!!!!" I would highly recommend spending time with Zerach at his beautiful home in Jerusalem. The living space was well thought out and would make the most discriminate traveling very comfortable. The view from the balcony was stunning as we looked out unto the Knesset. However, the best part of this location was the host!he made me feel right at home and opened his home without any reservations. I was invited and participated in classes and Sheva Brachas! His knowledge of the country was very helpful and removed alot of the stress of being a "tourist" In addition, the fact that he is a religious Jew allowed me to use his kitchen. I'm grateful that I had the opportunity to spend my time in his beautiful home and cultivate a new friend. Lastly, his home is close to the Mall, trains, buses, old city ...... All the best, Benjamin Sherr 2:14 PM

Zerach was a wonderful host with terrific, private and clean accommodations. The terrace was a welcome bonus with good views and a great place to work on your tan. The neighborhood is centrally located so you can walk almost anywhere in central Jerusalem. I recommend this apartment to one and all. Worth every penny!

In a word, except for the excellent location (a five minute walk to the Shuk and within walking distance to the Old City), the presentation that Zerach posted about his AirBnB rental was inaccurate. We found the beds to be hard and uncomfortable, to the extent that sleep was constantly interrupted by part of our bodies becoming numb and causing us to wake up in order to turn over. This went on all through the night. Being on a tight budget, the 50% cancellation rate was prohibitive for us. We had already booked a guide for our first five days in Israel with every day's activities and touring already scheduled. We felt in an awkward position; to deal with these issues with our host would taint and potentially cause bad relations with our host and spoil our trip. Much precious time would have been lost if we had discussed this with our host and then would have had to look for, book, pack and move to another location. As soon as we walked in we realized that the photographs had mislead us; the place was untidy, lots of papers around his computer desk and every inch of kitchen counter space was covered with various items. The view from the balcony was wonderful, however there were several items stored on the balcony which were unsightly. We were invited for Shabbat dinner and this was a great evening with other guests, great conversation and a fine meal. We truly appreciated and enjoyed this Shabbat meal. The first evening the hot water in the shower ran out in the middle of a shower and Zerach then asked us what time we planned to take our showers so he could press the button to start heating the water for us in the morning. Towards the end of our stay, after mentioning the lack of hot water several times, Zerach showed us where the hot water switch was. In retrospect, since we were unfamiliar with how hot water worked in Israel, we would have felt more comfortable being shown where the hot water switch was located upon our arrival as part of the check in. We could then press it ourselves when we were planning to take a shower rather than be committed to a schedule. We tried to keep to the schedule we had mentioned to Zerach, one of us taking a shower in the evening, the other in the morning. This worked out well, however it would have felt far better if we had been in control of heating up the water for ourselves on our own schedule. We would not book here again. We feel obligated to let others know our experience. We hope this will prompt our host to purchase new, firm beds, put a ½ inch topper on the mattress, and place a mattress pad over the topper. As well, show guests where the hot water button is so they can make hot water to suit their schedules each day.

Réponse de Zerach :
Tatiana and Tom were very nice guests however they don't communicate well. They arrived and immediately they were gone and touring with their guide. I had no way to reach them outside of running into them at my home upon their return. On the last couple of days Tom finally gave me his USA phone number and said that it rang on his phone in Israel. I haven't had any complaints about the beds. Some people want a firm mattress and then some people want a pillow top and soft. This is a personal preference, but they never said anything to me, so I wasn't able to make an adjustment with the beds. Had they mentioned this, I would have provided a pad for the top of the beds, what would have been the big deal? How much time does it take to say, do you have a mattress pad? About 10 seconds. It would have been done. I bend over backwards to make all my guests comfortable. They were both invited to my Shabbat meal and they really enjoyed and I take offense to the fact that they felt we would have had bad relations with me if they told me what was bothering them, because my background is in the hospitality industry and nothing could be further from the truth. In fact I asked them multiple times to let me know if they needed anything and they were silent. Concerning the hot water, we have a solar panel on the roof that heats the water plus we have electrical system that heats the water as well when the sun isn't shining, and it's on a timer so you can set it and forget it. Guests have full access to the timer and can set it themselves. On the first night they ran out of hot water? OK so you extend the timer and then it’s set for the rest of the stay. It takes about 15-20 mins to heat up. Also I keep my home clean and in impeccable condition. I have a housekeeper that comes in once a week. I really take offense at the nitpicking. It all comes down to communicating with your host and not worrying that they would be upset with a request. I’ve had over 1500 guests here for Shabbat meals and last year 3 couples met here and got married. I have many reviews of guests who have stayed here and my home is a place where people interact and it’s an atmosphere of communication, so this review from Tatiana and Tom is inaccurate. If you don’t express yourself, I can’t be a mindreader too.

I needed a short term rental while I moved apartments and I came across Zerach. His apartment looked clean, bright and well looked after. I booked almost immediately. The apartment is in the most convenient location, not a stones throw from the Shuk and 5 minutes from town. The apartement is very spacious and cooking facilities are excellent. The room is private and has a lock with a private bathroom. The views are simply breathtaking! Zerach is an amazing guy who is so easy to get along with and talk to. I highly recommend this apartment for both short and long term.

Shalom! I'm Zerach Seidman, I made aliyah in 2011 from Long Beach, New York. My professional career was in event production, entertainment, management, and hospitality. Besides managing short-term vacation rentals, I've produced mega events for my clients like AT & T, Citibank, HBO and many other Fortune 100 companies. I also owned a company called Sunshine Talent which was a personal management company which discovered and managed Kevin Connolly, best known for his role as Eric Murphy in the HBO series Entourage. My experience extends into the manufacturing of a unique stationery product known in the gift industry as QB Square, which sold worldwide.

I now live in Nachlaot, Jerusalem and manage short-term rental properties mostly to accommodate vacationers looking for comfortable, clean and safe locations to spend their stay in Israel.
