Be aware that the stairs are not suitable for children, and there is no handrail on the ground floor to first floor using the walnut stairs, though there's always a wall to touch as you go :) Mezzanine Room Stairs have a good rail both sides!

Very few rules really! make yourself at home, take off shoes in the house always as you come in and leave by front door!

Please use Squeegee after shower to leave bathroom fresh and dry.
Please feel free to cook but not later at night, as house is open plan & although there is an extractor, smells travel - grabbing a sandwich etc after 9pm onwards though is no problem at all!

****in this fabulous room the No Shoe policy comes into its own- please respect this as the stairs are pretty unique, tis all I ask, you'll see for yourself and you will love!

If you need ANYTHING please ask as it can usually be accommodated!
its a non smoking house, so if you smoke, please use the garden - or in winter out front :) !
Enjoy your stay and relax, make yourself at home...

Loved the room! Super cosy and true to photos. Sally was very communicative, friendly and hospitable which is great for a host! Easy to get around as there are buses that stop right outside the house. Only wished I could've stayed longer. This was my first private room experience on Airbnb and it was a really great one (: Definitely hope to stay here again. Thank you!

I can't speak highly enough about Sally's place. The area has an amazing balance of nature and wild life with doorstep connections to the hustle of the city and plenty of cafe's and shops within walking distance. The house is equally balanced; modern and stylish with a gorgeous garden if you like your morning coffee in the fresh air. Sally is the jewel in the crown, a very busy and exciting artist but still a wonderful host, she is a fascinating conversationalist, knows everything you need to know about the transport links and/or interesting things to do and is one of the most generous hosts I have encountered. I realised, when checking in, that I have now been staying with Sally for 4 years and I will continue to do so. I love it there, 5* star living.

Sally's place feels very welcoming and friendly. She takes great pride in adding a personal touch to your room, with fresh flowers and clean towels. The location is easy to find and well connected on the Central line. I'll definitely be back!

From the very beginning of our enquiry, made from NZ , Sally went the extra mile to facilitate our booking. Likewise kept us informed up until the moment of our arrival. We enjoyed our time together having stimulating conversations on many levels. We are most appreciative that Sally made it possible for us to stay with her as her home is situated so close to where I was born and raised in my youth and our stay allowed me to be able to revisit my past in the way I had hoped. With a regular bus service right outside the door it is very easy to get around the area and link with the train stations that are nearby.

Thank you Ian and Christine, I hope that your travels are continuing to open up beautiful surprises and lovely people! I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay and I found our conversations fascinating! The walnut staircase from ground to first floor doesn't have a handrail as this is part of the aesthetic of the house, though there are places all the way along to hold on to as you ascend and descend the short distance, I realise that its not for everyone!

Sally was very welcoming and kind. Made me feel at home straightaway. The house is very nice and feels very different from the surrounding area, it is more of a gem in that part of London. The garden is lovely with a chicken freely roaming around it, giving you a nice fresh feel. The room is very large, with nice books on the bookshelf, I took photos to make sure I read them all when I go back home, and read one of them while there. There is something to like in every part of the room, with the lovely staircase leading you to your bed. The bed is extremely comfortable, I checked the make to get a similar one, the towel are clean and fresh and so was the linen. The house is very accessible to public transport and 1 minute away from the bus station. Sally was very nice and I enjoyed chatting to her tremendously. You get a bit of what London is really about culturally and you may discover something or two you were not aware of. I highly recommend it and found found good value for money too/.

Hi,
Sally here! I am an artist and co-lead a small artist led organisation called the drawing shed based in east london. I love hosting people from all over the world and welcome my guests to relax and enjoy a contemporary London home with its lush garden and its resident hen!
I am studying for a practice led doctorate in fine art and make work using drawing, sculpture and performance and socially engaged projects with custom made mobile arts spaces, including PrintBike an architect designed mobile print workshop powered by a Brompton fold-up bike!
I have a daughter too away at Uni, and a garden on the ground (!), a roof garden off my bedroom and I just love the open space in front of the house - as in London you need the balance of hectic and calm! I run on the common and enjoy a swim in an open air lido. I love cooking and the kitchen is equipped to reflect that.
I am a bit of a culture vulture too being an artist, and get out a lot to arts 'stuff' which I am happy to share with others. I hope that gives you a bit of an insight - I travel too and stay as an airbnb guest myself and value hugely the gift of the generosity of others!
I am busy but sociable and always happy to advise on local london stuff...
Just in case you are a Farmers market kind of a person, ) and here in Forest Gate we now have weekly food markets on with a great atmosphere and the very decent Forest Tavern food pub .... good local cafes: the Wanstead Tap & a new wine bar, both very individual local bars & a music comedy venue is just around the corner, as is a craft cider press with great pizzas on Fridays &. Saturdays - and of course Coffee7 and Cafe Familia: our glorious independent coffee shops, two of many great local food places & gastro pubs; Leytonstone has fab cafés (All you Read Is Love) / restaurants and the stunning planting and facilities of the Olympic Park & Hackney too are a stones throw away. Stratford - one of London's largest transport interchanges, has great pubs, theatres, cinemas and the huge Westfield shopping centre ... ask me anything you need to know!
best
