On the mountainside at 270 metres above the sea, above the charming village of Paleokatouna, lies the beautiful stone-built Viila Helidona. It sleeps ten; its private swimming pool has great views. Five minutes by car to the east coast resort of Nidri with tavernas, shops and FREE WATER SPORTS
We have a spacious, very practical kitchen, large enough to allow four people to prepare food at once.
The lounge has a Sony smart TV with a HDMI cable connection and a blue ray player. There is a selection of popular DVDs and music cds.
There are five CD players throughout the house and outside.
We have five bedrooms; two with double beds, two sets of single, linkable beds and one bedroom with two single beds. Three of the bedrooms have ensuite shower rooms and the two other bedrooms share a shower room. There is wifi and three ipod/iPhone4/s docks.

The house has extensive balconies, patios and two pergolas and a secluded private pool measuring 8m x 5m.
There's a barbecue, table tennis table and relaxing shaded lounge area outside
There's a car port for two cars (maybe three small cars). The area around the ground floor is reasonably flat, once you have got up the twelve steps off the road to that level. We have had one wheelchair user who managed quite well, sleeping downstairs. He needed help with the steps up from the road.

New guests are provided with a printed driving guide and a guide to the area in advance. On Monday mornings Simon calls to do some introductions to the house and the area and returns on Wednesdays to clean the pool. He will explain the free water sports offer at Horizon Watersports in Nidri.
The house is a five minute downhill walk to Dimitris, a very good meaty, but not fishy, taverna. (Afterwards the uphill jaunt takes longer) Dimitri is very reasonably priced and usually charges about E14 per person.
Shops, bakeries, ATMs, Bars, water sports, boat rental, yacht rental and all other facities are 3km down the hill in Nidri.
HorizonWatersports in Nidri provides FREE WATERSPORTS (for a limited number of hours per week) to all Villa Helidona renters. There is a pamphlet in the villa welcome pack which explains the offer.
Guided mountain biking is available.
Yoga classes are available at the villa.
Ask Simon on Monday about these!
All bookings are from Sunday to Sunday.
Enquiries can be sought by email by writing to Lucy.
The house is non-smoking.
There is no rubbish/garbage collection, so renters have to drop rubbish bags daily in the communal wheels bin, 300 metres away.

We've been grecophiles for decades. We sailed around the islands several times and then landed up at Nidri in 2001 and decided to build our own villa on the hillside behind Nidri in Paliokatouna, known as the old haystack in Greek.
