Description

Our charming 2-story home is located in the heart of the lovely, historic Garden District and only 2.1 miles from the French Quarter. Enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer in this amazing, brick-exposed house loaded with a full bar, jacuzzi bath, and fireplace!

My boyfriend and I fell in love with this place the moment we walked in and we think you'll feel the same! This custom-designed 100+ year-old home has one of the most unique structural layouts of any house in New Orleans.

It comes loaded with a brick-exposed bar with 3 comfortable seats, a working sink, backed by a full length mirror.

The downstairs bathroom has a full size jacuzzi tub with power jets framed by a wrought iron chandelier. Guests are encouraged to use the jacuzzi and relax after a long day strolling through the city! Our kitchen is custom built out of 100% cypress wood and has all the basic appliances, including a microwave, toaster, and coffee maker. The fireplace is fully functional (although it's too hot to be of use until much later in the year). Exposed brick and plenty of mood lighting throughout gives this home a welcoming, yet eccentric feel that defines the very culture of New Orleans!

Our neighborhood utilizes street parking. There's usually plenty of parking spaces directly out front or within steps of the house.

Please see "Other Things to Note" at very bottom of listing for clarification of sleeping arrangements for parties over 2+. Military, retirees, and LGBT are more than welcome! Come as you are!

*To avoid any confusion - Please note that this is our home, meaning we live here and may be a occupying the house at the same time you are here. Yay for new friends! You will be renting our guest bedroom and are welcome to all shared spaces, but this is not a listing for the entire home. Thanks!*

Everywhere is accessible EXCEPT our personal bedroom. This includes:

-Both upstairs and downstairs bathrooms
-Jacuzzi tub
-Living room with leather couch and loveseat
-Bar access (BYOB or replace what you use)
-Kitchen with plenty of snacks
-Queen size air mattress if needed
-Front courtyard with rocking chairs
-BBQ deck in backyard with patio furniture
-2 bikes available to explore the city

This home is our primary residence, however, you may not see much of us during your stay, especially if it's during the week. I work full-time at a local hospital and my boyfriend occasionally works from his laptop in our room. We are always available via phone/text for assistance or tips during your stay if needed. We also love sharing a meal or going out for drinks with guests if our schedule allows!

New Orleans is a beautiful, charming, electric city and we absolutely love it here - but it's not the safest city in America, therefore, location is everything. We've seen places on Airbnb that look amazing on the inside but the location is less than desirable. With that being said, even if you don't book with us, we recommend this neighborhood very much! If our price is out of your range, there are plenty of listings available near us that may better fit your budget. Just please don't compromise your safety to save a few bucks - It's not worth it.

-------------------------------------------------

Overall, the area is called the Garden District - but to get specific, we are located in the Irish Channel, also known as "The Sliver of the River," referencing one of the only areas in New Orleans that did not flood during Hurricane Katrina. It's by far the trendiest neighborhood in the entire city due to it's perfect location sandwiched between the infamous French Quarters and the quaintness of the Saint Charles Mansions.

The people here are wonderful and our neighbors are super friendly! There's a corner store a few steps down the street from our place that sells everything from local craft beer to household items to cold/hot sandwiches to Chinese food - I'm not kidding, it's quite amazing.

We are also located down the street from 2 neighborhood Irish pubs. Drinks are cheap and the pours are strong, plus no need to drive anywhere! And the food is absolutely superb! Try the oysters, wings, and roast beef poboys here, you won't regret it!

We can provide you with a list of our favorite happy hours, restaurants, and bars or you can spend some time exploring and find your own hidden gem! Sometimes the best places in this city, as we've come to find, are discovered on a blind chance!

There are very few areas in New Orleans that you can party with the locals and still drink with the tourists like the Garden District! After you see what the Irish Channel has to offer, you might just forget about Bourbon Street.

Our home is one block away from Magazine Street, famously known for its eclectic collection of thrift stores, boutiques, and restaurants. Nothing is better than strolling down this beautiful stretch of road while window shopping with an ice-cold cocktail in your hand (open containers are perfectly legal here in New Orleans)! There are over 20 restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk from our front steps and more shops than you can count!

3 minute walk from the Magazine Street and Jackson Ave bus stops that takes you everywhere within the city, from the cemeteries to the Quarters to City Park. $1.25 for one way or $3.00 for an all day Jazzy Pass! We have all route information available for guests.

10 minute walk to St. Charles Ave where you can hop on the street car for $1.25 to the French Quarter/Central Business District/Convention Center or hail a cab/Uber from the front door for about $10 each way.

We also have 2 bikes our guests can borrow for exploring the city, plus a bike rack if needed. I highly recommend Audubon Park (3 miles) or City Park (4.5 miles) for a good day of bike riding and activities. Riding to the Quarters (2.1 miles) is also super easy!

Walmart and Walgreens (both open late) are located within a mile away for any last minute emergency needs.

Airport transportation into the city via cab is $33 flat rate each way for 2 people, $14 per person if 3-4 people. Uber is also available from the airport.

We use Airbnb to not only make a little extra income to fund our own travels, but to also meet people from different walks of life and expand our understanding of the world. We absolutely love our neighborhood and wish to share this beautiful city with anyone who cares to come explore it! Truthfully, New Orleans is definitely the one place that you should stay with locals, and we try our best to make sure that you get the most out of your stay while you're here. It's clear that we love hosting very much and enjoy meeting new people along the way!

Note - This listing is for one guest bedroom with a queen size bed that sleeps 2 people. We also have an air mattress that can easily accommodate 2 more guests. If you wish to also rent out our personal bedroom, it can be booked for an additional fee; it's not always available but it doesn't hurt to ask!

Liz and Montie's spot is a wonderfully quirky house in a perfect location. The style of the house is warm and creative, both architecturally and in decoration. It's a quick walk to dozens of excellent restaurants on Magazine Street, and a short ride to other key spots in the city, including the Quarter. Our room was comfortable, and we enjoyed the jacuzzi. Our only complaint was that the mattress was firm and very noisy when you moved, which made it a bit hard to sleep. Overall, though, we loved our stay.

Montie and Liz's place was wonderful! They went above and beyond with restaurant suggestions, cleanliness, open bar, extra snacks and water, [jacuzzi bath!] and decorations. The location was also perfect - just a couple minutes away from the trolley, with a scenic walk around Magazine St. on the way. We had such a great trip thanks to our hosts' accommodations and would recommend their place to anyone visiting the area.

Great weekend trip to NOLA, made possible by the excellent accommodations and fantastic host. Montie had great tips for exploring the city and his home was in a perfect location to do so. We definitely plan to stay here again if/when we return!

This place was the perfect location for all our needs. It is in a great neighborhood with great nearby restaurants and shopping. Close to all the necessary buses and street car lines to get you to all the usual suspects. The house was comfortable and had everything we needed.
