Description

A quiet 2-bedroom with a spacious living room, kitchen, and dining area. Artsy decor, quiet balcony in the back (table and chairs) and a porch/urban garden in front (table and bench). And right in the hippest, liveliest neighborhood in Montreal!

Location, location, location! This ground-floor apartment is situated in the most interesting, liveliest, hippest part of the city--Plateau Mt-Royal--and not just any part of the Plateau, but right at Le Main--St-Laurent Street, walking distance to basically everything. And yet, the apartment is an incredibly quiet and a truly beautiful space. The balcony in the back is quiet, beautified by plants and flowers, cozied up by kids' toys strewn around the courtyard, and cool in those hot summer days. The front is great for livelier mood: there is a bench and a table surrounded by our urban veggie garden, with just a fence separating the porch from the street with its many passers-by (people-watching in Montreal?). Inside, we have a piano, wooden detailing in the living room, and artsy decor projects we've done in the past. It is a relaxed home of a busy family of four, so the space will be very home-y (definitely not sterile, hotel-like feel).

(Photos coming very soon!)

Access to the whole apartment except for the kids' room. You may use the kitchen (fully-equipped) and we can arrange for space in the fridge if needed. We will also provide our wi-fi password. Full access is also provided for the bathroom, naturally, which includes a full bathtub. In the living room we have a TV set, but no cable service or TV programming of any kind. We have some DVDs, which you can watch.

We will be available for help and questions at least by phone, and possibly in person (depending if we're in town -- if we are, we could also show you around!). We can arrange the details before your arrival. Feel free to ask for advice on things to see and places to go!

As I said above, the location of our apartment is unbeatable. It is literally half a minute away from St-Laurent Street and the whole network of other streets teeming with cultural, artistic, social, political activity, restaurants, bars, unique shopping, music, and all kinds of day- and night-life (I can give tips for any of these activities!). One of the most popular parks in Montreal--Parc Jeanne-Mance--is short two blocks away, great for picnicking, lounging, sports (famous beach volleyball courts, as well as a turf court for soccer, football, etc., and tennis courts at $10/hour -- I can borrow tennis rackets if you want!). Jeanne-Mance park leads right onto the "mountain"--Mount Royal park--which is a virtual wilderness in the middle of the city (designed by the same person who designed NYC's Central Park), worth exploring on foot, by bike, running, whatever (make sure you go to the Belvedere on top, an overlook of the city that feels like you can touch the skyscrapers sprawled in front of you). The other most popular park, Parc Lafontaine, with a small lake and a really unique atmosphere, is 15 minutes' walk away, just down the street. Also, one of Montrealer favorites is the Mont-Royal Avenue, a short walk away (10 minutes), full of all kinds of diversions and activities, as well as rue St-Denis, which, among other things, sports an oasis of resto- and night-life in its section between Sherbrooke and St-Catherine streets, 15-minutes walk away.

And all this is just a taste of what this neighborhood has to offer. Random exploration highly recommended!

If you're driving, you will have to arrange for your own parking (if needed, upon your arrival I can provide advice on good nearby places to look for free street parking).

For public transit, there are buses on St-Laurent Street and St-Urbain Street (each one block away), as well as a couple blocks away on Av. du Parc and Av. du Mont-Royal, and 3 different subway stations 10-15 minutes' walk away (or a 5-minute bus ride).

I would also recommend biking (either Bixi or longer-term bike rental), as this area is criss-crossed by bike paths from all sides and it is enjoyable, quite safe, and worth your while to bike in this neighborhood. I could borrow a helmet or two as well!

A family of four lives here. While we sometimes rent the space, we mostly actually live in this apartment, and all our personal belongings are here. We will appreciate it immensely if you respect our privacy and do not go through all our personal things!

Règlement intérieur

This is a non-smoking apartment. You can smoke on the front or back porch, but please save your cigarette buts and dispose of them safely in the trash (we can leave an ashtray outside in the back if needed).

We try to keep our apartment reasonably tidy and clean. Please extend the same courtesy to our living space. And, as mentioned above, please do not go through our private items.

We have a very good relationship with the people who live in the surrounding apartments. Please be reasonably quiet and respectful of our neighbors. We would kindly ask you not to have gatherings with people who are not staying in the apartment.

Had a great time staying at Daniel's apartment. Great location, very spacious and Daniel was so helpful with everything. He went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely recommend.

First off, Danjiel was an incredibly nice guy. He was willing to show us around and even hand-write a map of his favorite restaurants, bars, clubs, and more. I heard from Danijel and many others that the surrounding area of the apartment is the most exciting, vibrant, and cultural in all of Montreal. I found this to be spot on. My friends and I are very thankful for Danijel's hospitality and would love to come back in the future. I would recommend this spot for people who want a taste of montreal by exploring during the day and going out at night.
