À propos de ce logement

Renovated home with private heated saltwater pool (seasonal) near Copake Lake and 10 min from Catamount Ski and Adventure Park. Sleeps 9, seats 9 in dining room. Gas fireplace, gym, game room, screened-in gazebo, basketball. Private 6 acres. Please note that the minimum stay is 2 nights except during holidays (minimum varies) and the summer.

Le logement

This house has been extensively renovated. The chef's kitchen and living room were combined for a large open family area. The kitchen was completely renovated with high end wood cabinets, granite countertops, a huge granite center island that seats five, and a beautiful large mission style bench seat. There is a new powder room off the kitchen.

The connected living room has a sofa and love seat, coffee table, desk, gas fireplace, and ceiling fan.

The dining room has farm table seating for 9, a ceiling fan, wrap-around windows and doors to two decks (one with a gas BBQ), and has a large pass-through to the kitchen.

The den has a sofa and two beautiful barrel chairs in a reading area. There is a TV with free access to Netflix (no cable).

The Master BR has a queen size bed, sitting chair, two closets, and a private master bath with double sink and walk-in tiled shower.

Upstairs has two huge BRs and a shared full bathroom with tub. One BR has a bunk bed with an extra roll out third bed and another trundle bed with a roll out second bed that can be connected to act as a double bed (accommodates 3-5 people). The second BR has one queen and two single beds. Each BR has a desk, as well as air conditioning in the summer. While we can accommodate more than nine people, we do not accept such reservations given the increased cleaning cost and wear and tear on the house.

The basement has a ping pong table, two-player basketball arcade game, foosball table, knock hockey, TV area with a sofa and love seat, and a home gym with an exercise bike, weight bench, and some dumbbells. There is a full gym and indoor lap and play pool at the local school ($2 per adults, kids free). The school also has a free artificial turf track, basketball, tennis courts, and large playground.

The front yard is set far back far from the road with minimal views of passing cars in the summer and open views of the large pond across the street in the winter (no access).

The back yard has a fenced-in, 8' deep in-ground pool (open seasonally) and connected screened-in gazebo with furniture, radio, ceiling fan, and light. Ample pool furniture and a patio umbrella are provided in the summer.

The driveway leads to an outdoor asphalt parking area with a basketball hoop, as well as a large unattached garage for one car. In the garage, we offer access to several bicycles, some golf clubs, a few tennis rackets/balls, three RipStiks/Waveboards, pogo stick, and other items. There is also a hammock out during the summer.

There is free wifi throughout the house. Utilities include hot water baseboard heat, gas appliances and fireplace, water softener, and instant-on hot water. Three heating zones for each floor. The house has a burglar alarm system, smoke and carbon dioxide alarms, fire extinguisher, and security cameras (on the outside only). Crime is rare in this area. The back door has a coded door lock, so no need to carry around a key.

Full access, except for one locked basement storage room and utility closet.

Interaction with Guests

While the owners live in NYC, our next door neighbors, including a retired mechanic, act as caretakers and will be there to provide any local support when required.

The Neighborhood

Copake is a 2 hour drive from NYC and 2-1/2 hours from Boston in rural southern Columbia County, NY (just north of Dutchess County, NY and east of Berkshire County, MA).

Birch Hill Road is one of the nicest streets in the area. The house sits across from a large pond (no access). The street ends one mile away at Copake Lake, the area's largest lake which has a marina to rent boats and a beautiful 18 hole public golf course and scenic restaurant. Catamount Ski (winter) and Adventure Park (spring/summer/fall) is only a 10 minute drive away. There are three public golf courses of varying levels a short drive away. The hamlets of Hillsdale and Copake are five minutes away, as is their joint weekly farmers' market (seasonal) and large public library with children's reading/play area. The area also includes many great hiking trails and a popular rail trail with bike rentals. The larger cities of Hudson, NY and Great Barrington, MA (many restaurants, chain and local stores, antiquing, theater, movies, bowling, music, etc.) are both less than a half hour away.

Within an hour are Butternut, Jiminy Peak, Windham, and Hunter Mountain ski areas, Tanglewood, Albany, and Saratoga Race Track. Southern Vermont ski resorts are two hours away, so accessible for a day trip.

Getting Around

Closest public transportation is Amtrak station in Hudson (25 minutes by car) and Metro North station in Wassaic (38 minutes).

We are New Yorkers who have been coming up to Columbia County (specifically Copake/Hillsdale) for over 20 years. We recently purchased this home and lovingly renovated it for our family of five. With the kids tied up with school activities throughout the year, we want to share our home with other like-minded families who love the quiet and outdoor activities offered.
