Whether staying for a long weekend or all winter long, our guests routinely report Gran Den to provide one of their most treasured experiences away from home.

Gran Den is a bright, spacious, and airy home with a timeless design.

While many of our regular guests find they rarely leave our property, our home serves as an excellent base for ventures to Acadia, Deer Isle, or many other points.

Our home has been rented throughout the winter but it can be pretty cold. At times during the heart of Maine's cold winter season it can be challenging to maintain temperatures above 65°.

Two families of four can easily share our home; more are possible. We reserve the right to charge extra beyond 10—please inquire.

- Small foldout foam double – in a small, semi-private side room

We have a well-appointed kitchen that is open to the dining and living spaces. The cooks and cleanup crew will feel at one with everyone else and with the lake.

Cooking will be a joy

Our pricing includes State tax.

You will have full access to our home and land. You may use our canoe, private dock & swim raft, and will share access to our tennis court with our neighboring property. Use our supplies, free laundry facilities, firewood and blueberry fields.

Access to the building requires walking down a gently sloped but semi-ruggedly stepped walkway or grassy hill (see pictures).

Someone from our family or our property manager will meet all first-time guests, usually within a few hours of your arrival. Beyond this, our space will be just yours.

The fourth, fifth, and now sixth generations of our extended family vacation in our shared homes every year and some of us are very likely to be at our other home next door. No matter what, I am a phone call away and I, family, or our property manager can usually come by within a few hours if you need support.

Blueberry fields border the distant (inaudible) road. Homes are well separated by both distance and forest. Blue Hill, Bucksport, and Ellsworth are all roughly 15-20 minutes away. Acadia National Park and a Deer Isle are about 40 minutes away depending on driving conditions.

There is no public transportation in the immediate area; having your own transportation is essential. Boston, Portland, and Bangor airports have all easily served our guests in the past.

Depending on the weather and how the seasons shape up each year, our dock and raft may not be available in early spring or late fall. These are times when the lake can be less temperate for swimming anyway. If these amenities are important to you, please inquire before booking time after mid October or before mid May.

Our family has lived in, loved, and shared this home for generations. Please treat it as you would your own.

Please do not smoke inside (and be very cautious of fire everywhere!).

We ask that you leave things tidy and generally as you found them, prevent pet damage, and replace certain key consumables when convenient.

Please do not stream media over our network; see house manual for more info.

Please respect the privacy of any vacationers next door; follow instructions in the manual for contacting that household.

Monthly winter renters will pay for oil and utilities; cost estimates available upon request. (Weekly and daily winter rates include utilities.)

Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have needs or concerns and please work with me directly if you want flexibility you are not finding here or if you intend gatherings of more than 10 at any point during your stay.

Gran Den was wonderful! Brady was incredibly responsive in answering our questions before booking and super helpful overall. The entire process was seamless and he went above and beyond to give us some local recommendations. The house was picturesque and everything you could possibly need was there. We wanted a peaceful and relaxing holiday away and Gran Den delivered. We will surely come back in the summer!

Our host was in constant communication making sure we had what we needed and giving lots of ideas for food and fun. The property was AMAZING! The cabin was spacious and well stocked with games and fun things to do on site. Lots of trail nearby. We LOVED canoeing on the lake. Close proximity to do stuff at Acadia too. We loved all of the windows to enjoy the lake even when we didn't want to be outside in the weather. Loved everything about it. Stocked kitchen for everything we needed to boil our lobster too!

We had an incredible stay, which was much too short. The house was secluded and peaceful, but easy to find. Brady was very responsive and helpful with his texts. We were here to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia, but we honestly didn't want to leave. This house is totally unique and is furnished with every amenity you can imagine (except TV, but we never missed it for one minute). The view of the lake, especially at this time of year when the foliage is peak is beyond description. We lit a fire in the fireplace and toasted marshmallows for S'mores and had an unbelievable breakfast with a view the next morning. We want to return in the summer when we can take full advantage of the lake. An unforgettable vacation and a wonderful host and place to enjoy it.

Beautiful setting on Toddy Pond. The house is perfect. Clean, nicely set up for large groups and unbelievably quiet. The perfect getaway. Brady was very friendly, responsive and accommodating. Spot on with his description of the area. We will be returning annually!
