Enjoy our sunny, spacious, transforming living room / yoga studio! With access to the patio, curtained off from the rest of the house, it can become a semi-private space. The room is large, so if you want cozy, choose the other listing. No beds; only futons and air mattress available.

Le logement

This room can transform into what you want it to be. It has the possibility of being a yoga studio or dance studio with 2 full length folding mirrors, a 3-5 futon bedroom, a family room. We have two friendly cats which will probably visit you. The balcony outside has plants and a second floor view. If you are a smoker, you can comfortably smoke outside on the balcony (no smoking inside).

This room does not have a door. Instead, there is a thick curtain at the entrance, so if you want more quiet or privacy, please choose the other listing. Also, the cats consider this their room, and they come in as they please.

From this very sunny room you have a nice view on a garden and there are many plants on the balcony.

Finally, as we live here, it doesn't look like a hotel, so if you are seeking a very plain, empty Japanese-style guestroom or hotel where everything matches, you will want to keep looking.
For those guests seeking a cozy place where they can feel like they are in a home, complete with pets, plants, musical instruments, a huge computer to watch YouTube, and friendly faces, our place is for you!

Accès des voyageurs

You can use most of the kitchen and half the refrigerator space, the bathroom, and the attached balcony.

We provide drinks: soymilk, coffee, lots of different green or black teas! We also usually provide some snacks, like chips. Sometimes we have juice or soda available.
Breakfast is granola or another cereal with soymilk or milk. Sometimes fozen berries, chia seeds, nuts, yoghurt or other extras are available. If I have time, sometimes I make Alaskan Sourdough pancakes or another warm breakfast.
If you have any allergies or are vegetarian or vegan, please let me know. We will try to accommodate your needs.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

This is our home, so we are here often, unlike many apartment rentals on AirBNB. You will see us often and we, as well as our friendly cats, love to interact with our guests!
We usually enjoy some meals together, share interests, help to plan itineraries or transportation routes, and discuss cultural observations about Japan with our guests.
Expect your stay with us to be more like a home stay than a hotel.
For us to show you around or spend time with you, it really depends on how busy we are. If we have time, we would like to take you to the nearby locations of interest. For example, just down the street we have an interesting pool and gymnasium, a traditional Japanese bathhouse, countless restaurants, a karaoke box and game center, a shrine, and the city fish market.
If we don't have time to take you to these locations, we will let you know where they are so that you can go yourselves. The area really is not lacking for entertainment.
We would like to sit and chat with you, or do activities with you if we have time. However, my husband works five days a week, and I am a PhD student, so sometimes we are quite busy.

Autres remarques

We live on the second floor, the first door.

There is no functional air conditioner in this room. There is no strong heater in winter, so it gets chilly. We use the fan here, and often the breeze is quite strong.

For someone interested in conducting classes or seminars, this room may be a good choice for you. Because of its transformative qualities, you can use it for many things. People may have to sit on the floor, though.

There is a supermarket a few blocks away and a convenience store very close by where you can go grocery shopping.

Règlement intérieur

Sorry, no loud snorers allowed in this room. Please see our other listing if you snore very loudly.

Please do not make a lot of noise after 9PM at night. This is generally a quiet neighborhood so we hope that our guests will be respectful of that. If you would like to party, there is a karaoke bar and other places nearby where you can go :D

Smoking is outside on the balcony.

If there is something that you want to use, please ask us, and clean up after yourself.

We do offer tea, coffee and a simple breakfast of cereal with milk or soymilk. Other than that, please buy your own food for the time that you are here. We will offer you some of ours if we have prepared some, but we can't promise that now.

Please wash your own dishes.

Please do not let the cats out the front door when you come in.

We look forward to your stay with us!

Here one stays at the the host's living room separated from the kitchen by curtain. 2 cats call is home as well. One has access to shared bathroom, toilet, balcony and kitchen with its facilities. There is a washing machine. The host did our laundry. We did not use the kitchen but only to boil water for instant coffee. You get futons to sleep on, and everyone knows that Japanese futons are both comfortable and warm. This is not an apartment for someone looking for spotless, clean and tidy place to stay. As the host said the apartment is far from being neat and tidy by Japanese standard. The apartment is otherwise about 10 min walk from closest train station. With all the changes it takes about an hour to get to Tokyo station. E-communication with the host was flawless. The wifi is somehow unstable. The speed and coverage can vary. The host provides breakfast consisting of cereal with milk or soyamilk. The host was kind enough to share their meals with us two evenings. They also took us to the nearby marked walking around and sharing a lunch. Upon our arrival we also shared a lunch in a nearby restaurant. This is a place where one, as an outsider to Japanese culture, finally can talk in English with someone with personal and long term experience living there. Sofia is knowledgeable and generous. She is door opener to seemingly strange and exotic Japanese culture.

I had wonderful stay at Sofia's house and I can guaranty that Sofia is one of the best hosts you can meet from Airbnb. Before arriving Japan Sofia massaged me asking what I wanted for breakfast and dinner(if possible), whether I know how to get to her house, whether I'm okay with cats, etc. Going to her house is not that hard from Narita airport and it takes about 40-50 minutes. Bus station is near her house so it's not hard to find her house using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) map. Sofia's house is no different from pictures and has quiet neighborhood. When I arrived she greeted me very kindly and provided me all the essentials I needed(even new toothbrush!). After introducing ourselves we had dinner together at restaurant, talked about lots of things and she told me whats around Matsudo and how I can reach few places I wanted to go. She even walked with me all the way to places explaining how I can get there from her house. Than at night I met her husband who is also just as nice as Sofia(by the way her cats are also very friendly and love to be patted). Next day we had breakfast together than also lunch. After lunch she introduced me to local stores where I met lovely people again. I had plans to leave to Tokyo early that day but I just decided to stay until evening casue I didn't wanted to leave so early. It was just wonderful experience at Matsudo and I'm hoping to stay at her house again one day.
