The moment Travis opened the door we were blown away by the view! Pictures don't do just to this apartment! What pictures don't tell is that you can simply feel all the love and care invested into this place.
We didn't meet Resi and Owen (a bit sorry about that), but they left for us a useful list of nearby places to visit - a nice thoughtful touch, and we were warmly welcomed by their friend Travis. The apartment was clean and tidy, with all the necessities, plenty of space for our clothes and fast wifi. Travis was so kind to both let us in and out at the exact time convenient to us, which made things much easier since we had loads of luggage.
The whole apartment looks so fresh and bright, like it was newly painted, with all those greenery bringing life into it and various charming details. While it isn't big, it is, as Resi said, cleverly cut and feels spacious. Bed is partly separated and nicely tucked behind the wall, accompanied by this super fun, remote control, colour-changing LIFX light bulb. Even from the kitchen or while lying in bed we were able to enjoy the gorgeous panorama. And there are dozens of jars in the kitchen with all kinds of seasonings and seeds some of which I couldn't even identify :).
The building itself is a new one, with nice entrance hall and interesting spiral staircase. A great view from the roof too.
The neighbourhood is really pleasant, quiet, lots of trees, two supermarkets just around the corner, not to mention the pond with ducks, swans and gulls... We didn't use U-Bahn much as buses are more sightseeing friendly and it was quite convenient to have m29 and 147 across the street and 140 just few minutes away. Within walking distance (15 to 45 minutes) are Check Point Charlie, Museum Island, East Side Gallery, Oberbaum bridge, TV tower, Gendarmenmarkt, Nikolaiviertel, Bergmann strase, even Brandenburg Tor and Reichstag...
This apartment made our Berlin experience even better. We were simply happy with it and in it, would gladly stay there again and are grateful to our hosts for sharing their home with us :).
