À propos de ce logement

Dog-friendly home built in 2010 on a peaceful and remote location that overlooks Norris Lake (just 35 minutes north of Knoxville), with a view to the Cumberland Mountains. Sleeps 5 who are seeking peace, quiet, and tranquility.

Le logement

The home was designed to be low maintenance, so it has Trex decking on the outside and colored concrete floors on the inside (making it very easy to sweep and clean). There is full heat-and-air, but there are also powerful ceiling fans in every room - minimizing the need for either. Two bedrooms (with queen beds); two bathrooms (with 42" showers); full kitchen with all necessary cooking accessories; screened-in-porch; long deck; attached dog-run with door pass-throughs (sorry, no cats permitted); WiFi; 32" flat-screen TV with Netflix, DVD player with discs, and (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Chromecast installed.

Accès des voyageurs

This is a private home that is used primarily for a few weeks in the summer, so you would have full access to the entire space during your stay. The ground immediately in front of the house remains wild, but there is a path that leads directly to the water (with an area 35' x 85' en route that is kept mowed - providing an opportunity for recreation). The shoreline is rocky, so water shoes are helpful. We've also just purchased 4 "noodles" for your enjoyment - to aid in floating in the lake.

Échanges avec les voyageurs

I generally like to greet everyone to orient them to the home and to provide information about the area - but that's not a requirement. If you'd prefer to just arrive on your own (with me being available at a moment's notice for support), please just let me know.

Autres remarques

When the TVA began in the 1930's, the engineers mapped-out where they believed the loveliest spot in the whole system would be once all the dams were built, and they built the cabins to house themselves there - and this home is on that same street. Which means it's a little remote - and cell service doesn't make it all the way to the house. Also, the roads are curvy, so it's recommended that you initially arrive in daylight hours (until you're more familiar with the area), as there are no streetlights nearby.

This home is ideal for a romantic getaway, or a small family wanting to make the most of the peace and quiet - as well as all the water activities nearby. But it is absolutely not a party-palace (nor a place to smoke), and we ask that the lead person be at least 25 years old. Dogs are absolutely welcomed to the home, but we ask that you keep them off the furniture; clean up after them; and bring whatever "doggie bed" and serving bowls with which they're most comfortable. Lastly, we've included everything into the amenities we can think of to make your stay memorable, and everything that you find in the home is there for your use and enjoyment.

Tom was a great host. He was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. The house was amazing with a great view. There's no AC, but the fans did more than enough to keep the house cool. We had a great stay at Tom's house.

Réponse de Tom :
Zach is not correct about there being no air conditioning. We absolutely do have it. Not only is the thermostat located in plain view, the spiral ductwork that runs throughout the house should have been a good clue. But what is most disappointing is that he must not have read any of my Welcome Details (a one-page breakdown), as it clearly talks about how best to use the A/C during one's stay.

This is a great property for our little family. It is very secluded and queit. It was a great place to relax. We loved the ramp from the deck to the dog run.

This is a beautiful, relaxing home with lots of privacy and quiet. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck and taking in the views. We, especially, enjoyed being able to walk down to the lake, with our kayaks, and get right in. We will be back!

We have "adopted" the Lake House as our home away from away when we travel to Norris. The home is comfortable, well appointed and maintained, and very scenic. Tom really cares about the experience of his guests and goes the extra mile to ensure the house is completely equipped. We highly recommend the Lake House

If you are somewhat a minimalist and enjoy nature then this Is the place for you! The big bright windows made us feel like we sitting in a terrarium right in the woods with the beautifully green foliage just outside those big windows! The sound of the song birds and the boats in the distance on the lake were so perfect. This lake house has one of the best views on the lake in our opinion with that gorgeous mountain view and the lake in the foreground. The house has most of the amenities one would need but a few others that were personal preferences. Tom was very informative on what was available for our use. We lacked for Nothing.

Great Serene Location with Beautiful Views of the Lake. The Family Pictures and Amenities will make you feel right at home. Suggestion, don't leave your donuts in the screened-in patio with the door opened over night, the raccoons had a great desert. We woke up to 6 Deer in the yard. We Highly recommend this property, and Appreciate Tom as a Host.

I've had the pleasure of working-for or volunteering-with Habitat for Humanity since Hurricane Katrina. Since then, I've led teams to a dozen countries, and have even lived internationally for a couple years.

For some time now it's been a dream of mine to run a small inn, and to greet people from many countries and different backgrounds on a regular basis. And with my travel experience (and attention to detail), I hope to help make your stay memorable.
