Our genuine Mongolian yurt with ornate hand-carved frame, yak felt insulation and waterproof cover offers tranquillity, comfort and beauty in one. It is built on its own platform with pine flooring which gives our guests a wonderful sense of space.
Please note - real yak! For anyone with allergies etc.
You will be in a part of our garden which is peaceful and secluded, accessed via its own bridge over a delightful stream which runs close by the yurt. There is a fire pit and wood to collect so you can really get back to nature! Over the stream but near to the yurt there is a composting toilet in its own building with a lovely outdoor heated shower. This facility is shared with our shepherd's hut which is in a separate area of the garden and has its own bridge.
The camp kitchen is basic: there is a 2-ring camping gas stove and bbq (please bring your own coals etc) for your use plus basic kitchen utensils and you can always ask to borrow something if we haven't provided it. You might like to bring your own cool box and ice packs and use our freezer to keep these frozen. The stream does make quite a good fridge, especially for beers! We'll fill a container with water for you but there is no tap near the yurt. The yurt area is all off-grid so we respectfully ask guests to be mindful of the water and power that they use.
Accès des voyageurs
Our house is just up the driveway and you can have access to a fridge and sink in our studio (separate to the house) as well as sockets if you need to charge a phone etc. As stated, there is no electricity at the yurt - the lighting we provide runs off a battery.
Échanges avec les voyageurs
You will be given all the privacy you want, while knowing that we are on hand to help you if needed.
Our gate is not very wide although vans can get in - just take care! We have other accommodation (sleeps two) on site in a separate area - about 100 yards away downstream and separated by trees. So you need to know that there may be other guests using our shepherd's hut and that although neighbours are not close, there might be other people around.
Beds comprise one double which will be made up with sheet, duvet and pillows plus a double futon and two single mattresses for use on the floor. Additional pillows and sleeping bags (2 adult size, 2 child size) are available although you might want to bring your own. If you are bringing a dog, please bring a dog basket.
We supply only one bath towel and one hand towel per group so you are advised to bring your own.
There is a small gas heater in the yurt to keep you cosy on those cold nights - not to be left on overnight or for long periods of time though!
We expect guests to respect our property and treat it with love! We do ask that there are no naked flames and no smoking in the yurt. You are welcome to smoke anywhere outside. Please can you also leave outdoor shoes outside or at the door of the yurt - there is a mat provided for this inside and a wellie-
boot stand outside. We'd like to preserve the floor as long as possible and it keeps the space much nicer for your visit too! If you are bringing a dog, please bring a dog basket.
