Hi Natalie, We are sorry to hear that this was your perception of the property. As you can see from the previous 50+ reviews, guests have adored the house and found it to be exactly as described.
Regarding a smell outside, we did send a note to you before your arrival that we observed a smell and tried to locate it to no avail. Per our experience before and after your stay, the smell was only present outside, and as we anticipated, has quickly gone away. We did our best to be transparent, thoroughly attempted to locate it, but ultimately things like this can occur anywhere and are sometimes, unfortunately out of our control.
Regarding the temperature, for environmental reasons we ask the cleaner to leave the AC at 78. The thermostat is plainly visible in the hall when you go upstairs and the HVAC works Great! Had you lowered it, it would have quickly adjusted to your preferred temperature. As you Arrived and messaged after 10pm, we didn’t see the message prior to your decision to depart shortly thereafter-- I apologize that we were not able to respond prior to your decision to leave.
Again, we are very sorry that your experience did not match that of the hundreds of guests before you, and we hope that you will reconsider Airbnb in the future. We take great pride in our property and truly value our guests, as do the other Superhosts in the Airbnb community.
