Our home is a newly renovated, 100+ year old, raised double shotgun, in the heart of the trendiest neighborhood of New Orleans. 2 blocks from the best part of Magazine St... with all the great restaurants & shopping... And just minutes from downtown!
The home/apartment a 750 sq ft 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom space that is on one side of the house, and we live on the other. It's a 120+ year old raised double shotgun style house, but we remodeled the entire home 3 years ago. You have a queen size bed in the bedroom, nice size kitchen with everything you need, and a large dining room... but who needs the dining room when you have so many great restaurants so close! The living room has a pull out queen sleeper sofa and 50 inch flat screen TV... we also offer a quality queen sized mattress should any guests prefer that over a pull out couch. The house has a great elevated porch that gets the breeze from the Mississippi river, and is a perfect place to sit and relax. The house is the traditional shotgun set up with the rooms being:living room in the front, then dinning room, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom in the back.
History of the house: Our home is made with barge board construction, which is a term that comes from how the wood was sourced. In the 1800's, thousands of barges full of goods destined for the Caribbean, South America, and Europe, were shipped down the Mississippi River to New Orleans. Once they were unloaded, the goods were transferred to ocean going vessels, and there was no way to transport the barges back up the river. The barges were deconstructed, and the wood was all re-purposed as materials to build the historic homes you see today.
Our home was originally built 3 ft off the ground, and in the same style and construction as most others on our street, but after the major flood of 1927, the original first floor (now second floor) was raised to the height you will see today.

We live in a residential neighborhood and we ask that all guests respect our neighbors and other tenants in the house. Please refrain from loud music or other shenanigans :).... You are in New Orleans, there are plenty of places to be rowdy.
Also, we love hosting families, but if you have children, we ask that they don't run in the house as there are residents directly below the apartment.
