I think it has everything guests would want, except a full kitchen, and our City Code won't allow me to add that. Fortunately, there are many good restaurants and delivery services, as well as good grocery stores, nearby.

There is a laundromat very close by.

Description

This is a third floor 625 sq.ft. addition to a 1925 duplex. It was built in 2000, has windows on all sides, and is surrounded by gardens and a lovely patio, in a quiet neighborhood very near Macalester College in St. Paul. I think it has everything guests would want, except a full kitchen, and our City Code won't allow me to add that. Fortunately, there are many good restaurants and delivery services, as well as good grocery stores, nearby.

There is a laundromat very close by.

Amenities include your own bathroom with shower, king bed, large living room area with gas fireplace, a dining/work table with 4 chairs; a printer; a mini-kitchen, with small frig, microwave, coffee pot, hot water pot, toaster, counter-top icemaker, and abundant storage room in drawers, shelves, and hanging space. You control your own heat and a/c.

Guests often are surprised by how quiet the space and neighborhood are.

You'll have the entire 3rd floor (excluding the attic area) as your totally private space. (It is one open space except for the bathroom, but is divided by function.) You'll have two keys; each opens the front door and your door. You can also enjoy the shared front porch, patio, and gardens. Since there is a lockbox, you can come any time of day. There are many good restaurants and stores nearby.

You can have one off-street parking space in the driveway if you wish; however, since it is in back by the alley, and your entrance is in front, and there is abundant on-street parking, no guest has wanted to use it. Let me know if you do. You can also park your bikes in the garage; ask me for the code.

I am retired and will be generally available to answer questions. I try to be available to greet guests if I know when they will arrive. My elderly Cavalier King Charles and I live on the second floor, and a mature couple who are great tenants live on the first floor. I have lived in St. Paul for over 30 years and in Minnesota all my life, so I know the Metro area and Minnesota very well and am happy to give you suggestions about places to go, directions, etc.

Macalester Groveland is a quiet and friendly neighborhood with a small-town feel. To my knowledge, there are no other rentals on my block. There are many walkers, most with dogs, and my gardens are a walking destination. I am 7 blocks south of Grand Avenue, which is a major shopping and entertainment destination. I have put a list of nearby places in a ringbinder and have also provided you with several books and magazines to help you find places you'd enjoy and I'm happy to discuss places you might enjoy.

There is a bus one block north on St. Clair, another 7 blocks north on Grand Avenue , and another 7 blocks south on Randolph. Macalester College and Snelling Avenue are .3 miles west. Snelling has a limited stop bus every 10 minutes, which connects to both light rail lines; the Green line goes on University Ave. goes beween downtown St. Paul and downtown Minneapolis, and the Blue Line between the airport and the Mall of the America, and downtown Mpls. Rental cars are available at the airport. Taxis, Uber cars, and Nice Ride bikes are also available. There are maps and other info in your living room area.

I added the third floor to my home in 2000 to be my law office; now that I've retired, it's a beautiful place for guests to stay for short or long visits. It is especially perfect for business travelers to the Twin Cities, parents visiting their children who are attending Macalaster or another of the many colleges in St. Paul and Minneapolis. Also, many guests have family and/or friends and former neighbors nearby.

Since it is on the third floor, it is of course not suitable for most disabled people. although the steps are wide and have good continuous railings.

No smoking on the premises. No pets. No unregistered overnight guests except by prior arrangement. No more than 5 visitors in your space at a time. We provide you a quiet space and ask that you be reasonably quiet, especially between 11:00 PM and 9 AM. (There is good insulation between floors so we won't hear each other if the doors are closed and the sound moderate.) Detailed information on how to use the fireplace, a/c, TV, internet, etc. is in a ringbinder in the living area.

I'm a retired family lawyer. Fifteen years ago, I added a 625 sq. ft. third floor office to my 1925 St. Paul duplex in the Macalester Groveland area of St. Paul. Now it's a lovely Airnbnb space. In retirement, I'm able to enjoy family, gardening, sewing, genealogy, and travel even more than before. Life is very good. My Airbnb is very quiet, private, and spacious, the qualities that I treasure.
